Who here does weight training as their workout?
So glad to see others here that are finding the love of weight lifting. I just wish I found it earlier, but it is never too late to build muscle and be strong. Barbella ( l love the name!) I started with a routine that my husband brought home from the Fire dept he works at. I am now following the New Rules of Lifting for Women. I am on week 3 and am loving it. I worked out yesterday and today is my day off. Tomorrow I cant make it to the gym so I will do the workout from home and will have to modify a bit. It calls for lat pulldowns and i dont have that at home...so will do an overhead pullover to work the lats.
Evelyn, congrats on the weight loss and muscle growth! How encouraging! and Seafood, I just took my measurements today! I got tired of not seeing the scale move...ofcourse muscle weighs more but it is discouraging to step on scale and see nothing changing. But my clothes fit better for sure! Nice to meet all of you!
Hey is there a weight lifting group/board here?

Who here does weight training as their workout?
I have been working out at a gym for 7 months now, basically cardio classes. Just last month I have switched to mainly weight lifting to build muscle, up my metabolism (muscle burns more fat) and to get stronger as I approach my 50's. I use FatSecret every day to journal my cal intake making sure I am hitting my protein requirements, and doing my best to take in less carbs. Not all carbs as we need carbs for energy. I have definetly seen an improvement and change in my body, mainly in inches. Anyway, Just wondering if anyone else here does weight training as their exercise?

please help
The key to losing weight not only has to do with eating healthy but also the portion size. Even when it is not the greatest food choice if you have "one portion" and add the veggies to help fill you up I think you will have some success. Also as others mentioned, exercise will also get you going! How much are you hoping to lose? Also, when you say they will not support you, do you mean they give you grief about wanting to lose or do they just not buy the food?
