Home gym suggestions?
I use free weights and Bowflex. There's a great weight workout through beachbody.com called Chalean Extreme. You only need free weights or exercise bands (the ones that look like elastic jump ropes...you can find them at Walmart for under $20). The workout is broken up into 3 phases and there are 3 days of weights each week and 2 of interval training (one with light weights and the other with no weights). First phase is called Burn & you work upper and lower body at the same time. Phase 2 is the Push phase and you only work one muscle at a time, lifting very heavy (pushing outside your comfort zone). You only do 8 reps and build up (plus you're building on what you already did in phase 1). It's a huge ego boost to go beyond what you thought your limits were. The 3rd phase is Lean and builds upon what you did in the first two. Most exercises combine upper and lower body but the moves are more challenging than in the first phase. If I could only do one exercise program for the rest of my life, this would be it.
