Height: 5'2" -- Age 45. Wife to one, mom to two (sons 19 and 12), sister to three, business owner of two (mid-market business analysis/strategy firm + organic face&body products). Always been chubby and always worn a lot of hats. And for most of my life, I have let those busy hats define my days. I lost about 60 lbs as a young woman in my early 20's -- the right way (real food|whole food|exercise). But life (love, marriage, kids, work) allowed me an easy path to put self on the back row. Now, I refuse to get any heavier or buy a larger dress size (my max is always near 300, then I start to feel it). I love clothes, shoes and makeup but it is not as much fun anymore at the "ms. plus" stores. I want each of my sons to enjoy his life and not be encumbered by weight (I was a chubby kid, so I know). They have missed out on DisneyWorld because I didn't think I'd fit in those darned spinning teacups! I'm finally researching food + nutrition and am ready to do something for me -- my health and to help secure a long life of quality years. My family is learning too and making changes with me (occasionally), but it doesn't matter whether they continue...I must (though I find it very difficult and guilt-ridden to leave them behind in my healthquest). If you're serious about getting your rear in gear, JOIN ME and let's laugh along the way!

If you can't quit sodas cold turkey, buy 12-oz frozen juices (100% juice, no sugar added - definitely no high fructose corn syrup - like, Old Orchard brand). Set out juice to melt and combine with about 32-oz Natural Sparkling Water (or mineral water like Pellegrino) -- no flavor, just plain CO2 water. (You can get both at WalMart for about $2.50 total). More expensive than a 2-ltr Coke but much less expensive than organic or natural sodas with cane sugar. A healthier option when you want that fizz of soda and my family (esp the kids) now prefer it over the bottled stuff. I use a really nice, clear carafe for just this purpose so it looks bubbly and special at dinner. As for butter, I've found that a 1/2 tbsp of the really, good grass-fed butter satisfies. Also, good virgin olive oil with a pinch each black pepper, kosher salt red pepper flake and ital seasoning is delish! Another good fake is coconut oil (like on morning toast) or a fourth of smashed, creamy avocado (both are good fats) that are better options in moderation.

Raneezy, doesn't matter how many times you've started before. If you are committed to taking the small steps every day...it WILL work. I've often said that I need to lose an entire waif model! Can't focus on that, though, but focus on losing the next pound. And by the way, you don't have to tell anybody anything if you don't want. This is your life and your journey. Commit to yourself. Sent you a friend request too!
