I'm 43, blissfully married to an amazing, wonderful man, have 2 kids (24 and 18), a dog and 2 ferrets.
I don't work outside the home at this time in my life and that may or may not change as time progresses.
My husband and I garden (shamefully for me he does the bulk of that). We both plant - he does so more gently; water (unless I forget); I do most of the deadheading and outright accidental killing of things (oops) and he's just very patient with both me and the plants.
I got started in miniatures (the buildng of dollhouses and things that go in them) a few years ago and got him involved as well. Or as he put it, I sucked him into my madness. We work on it off and on.
About 5 1/2 years ago my husband and son got me hooked on MMORPG's. I had no interest in them at all. They played and I worked on jigsaw puzzles and cross-stitching. Then one day, my husband started playing World of Warcraft along with my son. They didn't want me to feel left out and he said, "Come on, Honey. Sit down at my computer and create a character." I created a mage. She could hurl fireballs at enemies from her fingertips. I had a moment of eye-popping 'Whoa'!
Over five years later, I'm still at it. I've played other MMO's as well and am currently also playing The Secret World. I LOVE virtually kicking ass.
My husband has recently started calling me 'Gamer Girl' (yes, at 43)...I'd prefer 'Hot Gamer Chick', so I need to lose about 40 or 50 pounds to earn the title. (My husband didn't say that part)
Over the past few years my husband and I became less active and got all 'Fat & Happy'...but then we started realizing that the happiness can't last long without good health. Old and frumpy won't suit me well.
We're in this together, as partners...The Dynamic Duo. I'll be posting pics soon - they will be the 'Before' photos.
Once upon a time, I wore a size 6 - I can do this.
To all those out there trying to lose weight and get healthy - Good Luck! It's Do-Able.
