I am a year and change from turning 60. I have no idea how that happened! I gained a lot of weight a few years ago. I worked full time and I went to college at night for 7 years straight while raising kids. I cooked and baked as a sort of mini vacation during that time. I cooked recipes right along with the Food Network Chefs. Good strategy. I got my dream job: which is stressful and sedentary. So, now I have 63 pounds to lose and some fitness to rebuild. I would love to hear advice from people who have won the game of 5 to 10 minute workouts and eating in public places.

Diet Sodas
I have cut down on diet cola for a different reason. Brewed iced tea is more thirst quenching for me. It has anti-oxidants and plant oils that are healthy. I don't worry as much about sodium and acidity that aren't good for my health. But I still love diet cola and I drink it once in awhile. Moderation is the key for me.

Mixing it up
More proteins and fats and less carbs? We're on the same page here. I used to drink tons of skim milk for the lean protein, plus I loved the creamy drink. But, it increased my carb count along with providing the protein. So, I switched to soy protein powder. I used to eat Chobani yogurt. Again too much sugar and carbs...so I eat Fage 0% plain yogurt with fresh fruit now. I was eating Jif peanut butter but I switched to Trader Joe's peanut butter for less sugar. If you eat Fage yogurt, soy protein and peanut butter you will even out your macro nutrients (fat, carbs, protein.) You can watch it in that little diagram at the bottom of your diet page. (I try to do a Zone diet with 40/30/30.) Smile
