I'm 49 y.o. Female, mom of 7 y.o. daughter, married, unemployed currently - due to health reasons mostly for the past 3+ years. I want, and need, to lose 88 pounds ASAP. My biggest hurdle are my health issues. the one that stops me from losing weight the most? I have multiple Respiratory diseases [Severe Asthma, COPD (never smoked - but get Chronic Bronchitis and Pneumonia several times a year, and have a Collapsed middle lung on the right side that is Irreparable I'm told]. So, physical exertion of any kind gives me really bad breathing problems. Yep - I have all the inhalers, meds, breathing machine. *The hard part is I try, because I am determined. I start dancing/exercising in home (I loved to dance), but, can only do it for a couple of minutes, then I am out of air and need to sit immediately to catch my breath, stop wheezing, stop gasping for air, etc.! They give me Prednisone (an anti-inflammatory steroid) A LOT (more frequently over past 13 years). This contributes to weight increase in a major way! THE HARDEST THING FOR ME? - I FEEL LIKE ITS A CATCH 22 - BREATHE OR LOSE WEIGHT - BUT 'HOW' WHEN ALL PHYSICAL EXERTION CAUSES ME GREAT BREATHING PROBLEMS. I get depressed over it and hate to look at myself in mirror and especially in pictures! I get so frustrated and angry because all of the workout/burn fat programs out there do NOT SEEM TO take into consideration the people with major health issues who really want to lose weight. Like severe respiratory conditions. So, I'm really hoping and praying this Weight Management through Henry Ford Hospital helps me once and for all. They said they can even help me slowly to find and start minor physical exercises I can do sitting down. Oh GOD please let them/this be the answer to my weight loss prayers!

OATMEAL BEFORE BED FILLS U UP...
I READ, AND TRIED, EATING OATMEAL BEFORE GOING TO BED, WITH A SMALL CARB (3 SLICES OF MELBA TOAST). IT DOES SATISFY THE TUMMY BEFORE RETIRING TO BED. Smile ONLY PROBLEM, STILL IS PORTION CONTROL. I NEED 2 PACKETS OF OATMEAL, 1 DOESN'T SEEM TO DO THE JOB. Sad LISAMSV

PORTION CONTROL & HUNGRY STILL(?)!!
I AM FOLLOWING FAITHFULLY THE CHART ON THE FRIDGE: PICK A PROTEIN & A CARB,..., AND IT GIVES A LIST OF SOME. AS WELL AS A FEW PRE-PLANNED MEALS FOR EVERY MEAL AND SNACK FOR THE DAY. THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING IS IS THAT THE PORTIONS (FOOD MEASUREMENTS GIVEN) DO NOT ALWAYS FILL MY STOMACH UP....OFTEN STILL FEEL LIKE I NEED A LITTLE MORE TO NOT FEEL HUNGRY STILL. I DO ASK MYSELF, "IS IT HEAD HUNGER, HABIT HUNGER, OR REAL HUNGER?" THAT HELPS WITH LATE NIGHT SNACKS---BUT, NOT SO MUCH ALL THE TIME, ESPECIALLY DURING AFTERNOON THOUGH AFTER DINNER HOURS. TIPS? Nervous Eating
that sounds like a good idea. I am going to try that - chew gum and drink water (with some bulk Metamucil to fill my stomach...since I have to drink the stuff anyway), LISAMSV

Metabolic Resistance
Does Atkin recommend anything for Hypothyroid (underactive thyroid)? A recommended medication that works, that most doctors don't tell you about? Specific type of test(s), rather than the usual quick test which has a very wide range? Any doctor I have seen seem to the same basic test and as long as you fall in this very wide wide range they prescribe the same general med at the highest dose that doesn't work! Heard of any med(s) that do?

Just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism...
I am on Levothyroxsine for years now. Not sure if that's generic for another name of hypothyroid med. I asked, and used to take that L-Tyrosine too, but the doctor said not to do that. So desperate to find a High Metabolism burner, especially since sedentary because of respiratory diseases. Help me....any and all into and suggestions welcomed. Smile
