I'm 55.
There's nothing much wrong with me except a desk job the last decade, let's just say I've grown, and it's time to stop. I'm determined to get stronger for myself, which will in turn be better for my family and even the community. A better quality of life for me and my family is my goal, I'd like to lose 50 lbs. total.
I'm married 28 yrs., I have 2 children. My daughter 26, graduated last May with her masters in History and is currently looking for work in that field, she has a retail job in the mean time. My son just graduated with his Associates from The Culinary Institute of America in NY and is working in NYC starting in Garde Mange right now, he wants to move to a smaller place so he can cook again. I think the world of them both.
My husband's a photographer, he went back to school after retiring from IT and he's doing fantastic work. I think the world of him, too, and maybe a bit more :).
We both garden, our garden is Martha Stuartish this year, growing everything vertical, looks great and we are getting wonderful yields.
I take care of my Mom who is 87 and blind(she lives with us) and my family. I'm very proud of all of them, they would be fine without me but I'm glad to help.
I also work home, I sell books and do very well with it, I love my books. I've just started a sewing business, I'm pretty good, I could sew a house if it would stand up. I'd just like creative again, so trying to get that off the ground. I'll sleep in my next life.
OK, now that I've bored you to tears, welcome.
I'd be happy for any and all buddies!

New scale
Another reason for water weight is low taurine. You can get it in energy drinks, or i just take capsules. Taurine helps regulate the cell sodium content so it doesn't make you hold water. How do you know if it's accurate? I've never seen a scale like this.

So discouraged!
Ya, I agree with some of these guys- it should be
"10 lbs in ONLY 2 months!"
that's fantastic!

The Einstein comment was great- and so true. It does apply to weight loss too.

<<<Heavier weights and lower reps are actually better for you than the opposite. <<<<< Depends on if your intent is to bulk up or tone?>>>

Women really can't bulk up, so that's a misnomer for us. Making more muscle is good; for us it's all tone. Heavier weights and lower reps are better.

Virgin Cocktails
It's not about the calories. I'm following the Carb Nite Solution plan, and there is a chemistry, supposedly, about it, something about hormones and cortisol, it's supposed to destroy fat cells instead of just drain them. I'd have to read it again to say it exactly. I didn't think so either, so this is an experiment. It's not a big deal to forgo it, I just like them, they are fun, relaxing and a treat. the experiment involves lower carb, and higher calorie, and the protein intake, and the chemical changes that are made with low carbs, and no sugar, starch, alcohol. The premise is counting calories and losing weight that way, includes the loss of about half muscle. This plan is supposed to keep your muscle, build on it and subsequently lose the fat. So far, I'm stronger and the fat seems to be coming off. I'm still skeptical but I'm trying it for at least six months, unless some really bad results come in.

Virgin Cocktails
Darn it, how come what you like has to be bad for you? I love a good cocktail, more than any other food or drink. My favorites(changes as I try new ones) right now are an El Diablo, a Side Car and a Gold Rush. I was limiting to one a week ( not each Smile) but I'm going to not have one this week and see what happens in the 2 week period. If they are detrimental to my goals I will 86 them for a while, like 6 mos. If cocktails(that taste good)were alcohol and sugar free they would be my drink of choice. If you figure that out let me know. If you have any good virgin cocktail recipes please share. I have been having sugar free ginger ale and lime, or that with half diet cranberry juice, which isn't bad.
