The last few years I have been a life coach for several clients. But sometimes it is easier to tell others how to get their lives together than to listen to my own words. It is time I motivated myself to get back in shape and lose this excess weight.

I have always been a slim and fit guy, but as I have gotten older, my metabolism has slowed way down. I used to eat anything and never gain. If I got over 170, I would "freak out". But now, I am up to 200 lbs and it does not look good on me. I was at Macy's last weekend trying on some shirts. While I was in the dressing room, I noticed some really fat flabby older man in there with me - then I realized it was the dressing mirror!! LOL.

So now something is to be done. I am a very proactive type of guy and when I decide to do something - it gets done!! So here we go!!! I will get back to 175 and then start shaping up the loose skin. Charge!!!

To start an undertaking is easy; to maintain it is hard.
A WOW! for today (Adam's Words of Wisdom)

To start an undertaking is easy; to maintain it is hard.

Though creating something new may seem daunting, it is in fact easy when compared to the far more challenging task of carrying it out and keeping it up day after day after day.

It is easy to make a plan. It is easy to start the plan.
But keeping it going and pushing and visualizing is hard - over and over - day after day.

So my solution ? Make it easy on yourself. Start the plan EVERY day.

Instead of saying the first day "I am going to lose weight." and then the next day say, "Okay, now I have to KEEP losing weight." do this:
Start the first day by resolving "I am going to lose weight." The next day start the day as if it is the first day of your plan and simply say "I am going to lose weight!"

Keep recreating and restarting the plan every day! Starting is easy. So keep it easy. Start every day!

Every day is the first day. Every day is a day to begin.

Give me the strength!!
A WOW! for today (Adam's Words of Wisdom)

Give me the strength!!

You have a lot of dreams. You have a lot planned for your life.
You have a lot to do on your list. You have a lot planned for your day.
You have to deal with an unexpected change immediately. You have a lot planned for your next hour.

As the Red Queen said to Alice in The Looking Glass world. "Here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!"

There are times when it seems like it is TOO much. You will have to move so quickly and keep the momentum up and work so hard - that you will be tempted to give up. You will be tempted to not do anything.

The work ahead - even just what you have to do in the next hour - seems daunting and overwhelming.

That is the time you need to find a quiet moment. Close the door. Sit comfortably. Close your eyes and push all thoughts out of your head. Just breathe. Listen to your breath as it slowly goes in and out. Stay alert. Don't fall asleep! But be at peace. Just breathe.

When you feel you have cleared your head and calmed down, then focus on the goals of your life. I don't mean the errand you are about to do. I mean the long term goals. Picture yourself achieving them.

See yourself happy. See your beautiful home. See you accepting an award. See money coming your way. See a happy family. See your new great job. See the travels you will take. Feel how happy that makes you feel. Feel the pride. Feel the joy. Smile as you picture them.

Then say out loud - "This - or something even better - will come into my life."

Then say - "Not only can I do this - I WILL do this!"

Then breathe out. Allow life to give you the energy - and start your path once again down the road to happiness.

Recharge. Find the strength. It's the fire inside of you. You have the power. Just tap into it and go!

Little children are taught so carefully and learn so quickly.

"Wow! Did you see him catch that ball? He must be a natural!"
"Honey? Let's make chocolate chip cookies today. Those are Daddy's favorites!"
"Stop crying, son. Crying is for sissies! You don't want to be a sissy, do you?"
"Now, princess, let the boys win. You shouldn't beat them at their own games."
"You want to be a witch for Halloween? You can't do that. Witches are for girls. Let's make you a warrior or a knight."
"That is so cute. Jenny thinks she will be president one day. Isn't if cute that she has such fantasies. She'll learn."
"You quit the team to be in a play? A musical? Are you serious? No son of mine is going to be in some musical! I'll call your coach and get you back on the team."
"Honey, I am so glad you and Bob are going to be married. Now you can take care of him just like I have taken care of your Daddy."
"Wait to go, son! Graduating top of the class. You keep at it. Don't let anyone beat you! Stay on top!"
"Sweetie, what does your husband think about your photography hobby? Shouldn't you be more focused on him and making him happy?"
"How much are you making now, son? Shouldn't you be boss by now?"

Every word effects a child. Every attitude is absorbed and processed.
So many things from your past have made you into who you are. Think about how you effect those you are "in charge of".

Oven mitts - do not a woman make.
Nor baseball glove - a man.

Don't "talk the talk". Instead, "walk the walk."
A WOW! for today (Adam's Words of Wisdom)

There are many who are very committed to their beliefs. They have strong opinions and voice them repeatedly and loudly.

I believe that it is important to be heard. I believe that you should stand resolute in what you believe in - never losing the optimism or even a sense of humor.

However, instead of standing on a street corner and shouting
or gaining a political position and lobbying for your cause
or standing in a pulpit and preaching
or marching outside a building and protesting
or constantly giving out advice - whether asked for or not ....
let your commitments and beliefs shine through by example.

Live the life that reflects who you are and what you believe in. Let others see your happiness, sense your commitments, and bask in the warmth of your joys.

That, my friends, speaks louder than any speech, protest, debate, or testimonial can ever do.

Don't "talk the talk". Instead, "walk the walk."

Show your convictions through your actions and be an example.
