Male - 47 years old

I broke my neck (C5/6) in 2001 and was initially paralyzed from the neck down. I've recovered substantially but not completely which has affected by activity level over the years. At the time of injury, I was a very athletic and fit 204 lbs.

By summer of 2009 I was a very soft and out of shape 224 lbs. Yikes! I've been back to the gym 3-4 days a week since August and have basically got back to my pre-injury weight. However, I don't have the same strength so I've set my new goal to a more lean 195 lbs.

Wish me luck!

You can also manually enter your distances on Strava but I'm not sure if it will track the route that way...

Good luck!

Shake replacement meals
I drink these daily but never as a meal replacement. For me its a mid morning snack and a good way to make sure I keep my daily protein intake where I want it...

SUCCESS STORIES
My fatsecret data goes back to 2009. When I began using this tool to track calories, protein, fat, etc. it helped me develop a sustainable diet which I still enjoyed eating. It created habits which I'm still using today. I now tend to eat foods which make me "feel" good instead of just tasting good. My diet consists of mostly lean proteins, vegetables, whole grain rice or quinoa, etc. I avoid processed foods. I can go to nearly any restaurant during a work week and find something that fits my needs.

With the improved diet and weight loss it provided increased energy. The increased energy has led to a much more active lifestyle. Over the last 5 years I hiked Half Dome in Yosemite, completed 100+ mile rides on my road bike, done mud runs and other fun stuff. I currently work out about 5 days a week between the gym, my cycling and hikes. If you read my profile you'll see I've overcome some significant obstacles and still get out there and do it. Anyone can...

Overall I've lost nearly 50 lbs and I'm definitely in maintenance mode. At 46 years old I'm in probably the best cardio shape of my life. It has been a very positive lifestyle change. I do not consider myself being "on a diet", nor have I ever. I eat lots and like what I eat. I never deprive myself but I make good choices. Eat good, feel good. Eat bad, feel bad.

I don't bother logging my foods or exercise anymore because on any given today I could probably give you a pretty good guess as to how many calories, grams of protein, etc. I've consumed (by design). I learned that here. It all started here...

Good luck!

PORK RINDS ---
TERRIBLE FRIED FOOD WITH TOO MUCH SODIUM. I'm no dietitian but I can't imagine these being a part of any healthy diet and/or lifestyle.
