Written 2014:
I am Sarah, and I am 23 years old.
Since Nov'13, I am fighting my pounds and trying hard to become a more healthy and good looking me.
It started with no more alcohol,eating clean,a lot of veggies and salads, participating in courses of LesMills like Bodyattack and Bodycombat and going jogging in the morning.
After about 3 months I had lost 7kg and went from Australian size 12 to size 8-10 (GER: 40-36)

Now I changed my diet a lot. Since I started participating at 10km runs (my first was in March)I eat much more. I eat a lot of carbs, like whole-grain pasta,rice etc. but also lots of veggies and some meat.
I try to have polyunsaturates fats instead of animal-fats. Currently I am training for my first half-marathon which will be in sept 21st.Since I do weight-training,go climbing,do martial arts and go running,I must eat a lot and don't gain weight even though I have up to 2500kcal a day.

In my first 3 months of dieting I starved myself with only 1200 kcal a day. It took a while to realise that that's nonsence. Now I weigh 60-62kg and am slimmer than ever before. Because I have gained a lot of muscles and lost even more fat.

I think my photo is proof enough: It shows me at 65kg (143 lb) and at 61kg (134 lb). Thats only a difference if 3kg! I didn't loose much weight because I gained a lot of muscles. Don't just listen to the scales!

It would be great to find a buddy to make me not forget about my goals!

Mini Goals:
63 kg -----> achieved 2nd of jan
70cm waist(27,6inches)-----> achieved 28th of Jan
61 kg by end of January----> achieved 22nd of Jan
68cm waist(26,8inches)
run 40 Minutes with no break--> achieved 28th of feb
run 5km ---------------> achieved 28th of feb (6km)
run 7km ----------> achieved in march (since may: 14+km)
20% body fat ------> achieved 1st of september (18,6%)
run a half marathon ----> achieved 21st of september 14

Looking for a Bikini-Buddy :D
Yes of cause. I heard people call that skinny fat? When you are very slim but have no muscles and rather fat.

I unfortunately do have some extra kilos to loose. No more then 5 though. I wouldn't mind if I just stayed at 58kg and would therefore have converted my extra fat into some extra muscles! But the 58 I will definitely want to reach!

So today is my last day at work. Since I do research and have my own office I have time for fatsecret Very Happy But now I will be traveling for the next 2 weeks until I head back to cold Germany. So I won't be on fatsecret on a daily base anymore! But I will have a look every other day or so.

Looking for a Bikini-Buddy :D
Yes it is! Smile Thanks a lot!! So many people motivated me, mainly through the internet when I read through weight loss stories and I wanted to just give back some of all that positive energy!
To be honest I didn't know you were still active, since I saw you didn't update your weight (reached the goal already). But now I see that you are actually updating your journal! I will have to have a look at it. Great you cut down sugar! Something I didn't do (yet).

Looking for a Bikini-Buddy :D
Hi there!
I am a fatsecret member for 2 months now and starting loosing weight 3 months ago. I am no fat girl, I just had a bigger belly and big arms and looked a little podgy (I am 165kg (5"5) and weighed 67kg (147lb.

My lifestyle was eating Pizza, Spaghetti and Chocolate on a daily bases, never walk if I could drive, smoking and being a real couch potato.
Then I decided to change my life. Because until I was 16 I was very active, an thin, and the most sportive girl I knew. I have no idea why I changed when I turned 17 and gained 16kg!! And I wanted to finally not say "I used to be thin" but rather say: "Now I am thin again!"

Now I weigh 132lb (60,5kg) and feel so much better. My goal is, to finally get that bikini figure I always wanted (55kg, 121 lb would be grant). Now that I am young I want to enjoy it when somebody takes photos at the beach and I wanna just feel sexy in my Body.

Therefore I changed my Lifestyle a lot! I stopped smoking, stopped buying chocolate, eating Pasta, cut out bread and do sports every day.

I ride to work by bike (3,5km), do Bodypump (Weight training), play Beach-volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, go Climbing, run when it isn't to hot (I currently am in Western Australia and we have summer) and do some other fitness classes in the gym when ever I have time.

A day without sports makes me unhappy by now, I need sports and I love it!
And I don't have any cravings for chocolate anymore. I do have cravings for Pizza, and have one every other week, but it doesn't matter, now, that I am an active person. I do eat more healthy, hardly processed food, a lot of veggies and fruits, lots of brown rice instead of potatoes and salads. Less meat, more fish. I don't count calories anymore and since I don't, I loose weight quicker. I think I eat between 1300 and 2000 kcal a day, depending on the day. And I burn between 2100 and 2400kcal a day, so it is a fairly good amount.

I feel the difference! Men look differently to me, for a long time no seriously hot man flirted to me Embarassed , now I am overwhelmed by what for pretty hot guys are actually interested in me and yeah, that is damn good for my self esteem, I'll tell ya!
And many people I meet doing sports call me the super sportive and strong girl. This makes me so happy, I don't just look way better, its also the way I act, the way I stand, the way I talk, the way I feel that has changed.

I am very very happy and keeping on loosing weight is no big challenge for me anymore, because I have adapted my life to it and it has become normal to me.

I hope here are more people who are going through this and want to share their experience. I really would like to have a buddy that is having a similar time as I am. Somebody who is close to his goals and is actually doing instead of just talking. Somebody that I can talk about and who doesn't starve himself but rather lives a healthy and sportive lifestyle. Cool

Is my diet wrong?
Thanks Jasmin. I must look out for that bread! (Cause I miss good old German bread) but since even a "wholemeal" toast with 30% wholemeal at Woolworths easily costs 5$ here in Perth (that's what a good wholemeal bread from the bakery costs in Germany) I assume that real wholemeal bread will be above 15$ in Oz (Australia is soooo damn expensive) Perhaps I should bake my own bread! Smile

Is my diet wrong?
Thanks for all those replies!
Draglist, I might have a look at the book. And I also had a look at the webpage you sent me. That was helpful.

I do not want to start any lowcarb diet to be honest. Because I already know that that will end up in being a yoyo with me (Because I would not be able to stick for that long on eating no carbs!)
And I want to feel full and not want to be on a hunger diet...

I have a question about you all saying bread is bad:

I don't know where you are from, but I know that what people here in Australia, Spain, UK or especially in the US (where every food seems to be crap)call bread is not what I call bread.
I originally come from Germany and there bread is wholemeal (what they call whole meal in Oz is definitely not wholemeal) http://www.br.de/fernsehen/bayerisches-fernsehen/sendungen/gesundheit/themenuebersicht/ernaehrung/vollkornbrot-brot-ballaststoffe100.html (here is an example for real whole meal bread that I eat. One slice and I feel full for a few hours).
And I think that my whole meal bread (not toast or whatever) is good. So, when you say bread is bad, do you mean white bread from the US, GB or Australia or do you talk about any kind of bread even if it is wholemeal?

reddarin: Do you want to say that pasta is better than bread? I didn't get that.

My goal is not to stick on some yoyo diet or being on a diet for the rest of my life. And I do not want to forbid things for the rest of my life.
I do not have to lose 4lb in a week. I am okay if I loose 1 lb a week. Since my goal would then still only be 12 weeks ahead. And in that way I would more likely not have the typical yoyo effect. But would have changed my diet to a healthy way. Even if Atkins promises loosing fat quickly, I am convinced that that is no healthy method.
(But for someone who has to loose a huge amount of weight it might be a good method, since anything is healthier than staying obese, I suppose)
