Hi all,
I'm a 56 yr old, Kiwi born, lived in Oz for 34yrs, married, mum with a 30yo recently married son and 28yo daughter + 2yo g/daughter who is the light of my life.
I've known about Atkins since the 80's - still have the very first book Dr Atkins wrote, but got all 'twisted' about the 'danger' of such a 'diet'!!! Hah - what about the 'danger' of all the weight I'm carrying around?
Now, with SO many low-carb diets around, I thought why not go back to the originator and learn from him. A friend just started another 20cho/g a day diet, but it cost her AUD500!!! She is doing so well, I thought "get to that Atkins site and educate yourself - he's been talking about this for years". So here I am :-) !!
My hubby has diabetes in his family and I have heart and stroke history in mine, so we are walking timebombs.
Anyways ... I started on Monday November 1st 2010 and have lost 1.7kg to date ... ketosis has well and truly kicked in and I FEEL GREAT - I'm on my way.

What the hell is wrong with me???
I did the same and more! - Don't despair.
The only way for me is Atkins - gets rid of the need for self-control (except for portion size) - really helps with those cravings.
Come on - you can do it - read my Journal, you aren't on your own in this.

Any Aussies Out There?
Hey Crysalismum - just accepted your invite to be buddies - I'm not on in the forums very often, but made a promise to myself to weighin every week and track my food and exercise, and keep up my journal from time to time, for the first few months so it will give me something to look back on and incentive to lose this bulk Smile. I have a BIT (lol) further to go than you, but I understand the mentality of feeling overweight - it doesn't matter by how much.
Feel free to keep a watch on me in my trackers, etc, as I will look in on you to see how you're doing .... I do really like this site.

Any Aussies Out There?
Hey guys - isn't this the most awesome site? I've just signed up a couple of days ago and tonight I've been on hours, filling in my journal, posting my Bio, copying recipes, making up my own recipes, filling in the food/exercise diary (and that is just amazing to have all that worked out with a click of a button!!).
