The weather forecast is for snow, starting in the early hours... have to say, I'm a little excited he he he.....hoping I get the chance to build a fabulous snowman, if I do, expect pictures. I know many of you have months of snow each year but we have only had two decent snowfalls in the last 10 years!

I have set my alarm at 05.30 (only 15 mins early) as I'm taking no chances and walking to work. It's only 1.75 miles.....yes I can hear you all wondering why I don't walk all the time....in my defence I have to get home during my 30 minute lunch break to give Ozzy his meds and let him out. I also work a fairly long day in a cold environment, add a cold, wet walk and I would be a grumpy old mare, who is away from her beloved chocolate boy for too long as it is and you see why I take my car. Before we had Ozzy I used to cycle, not going to try that in the snow. Looking forward to the extra calorie burn and having an un-dented car safely tucked away in the garage.

The first of my 'treats', a memory foam mattress topper arrived yesterday. I have left it to breath overnight in the guest room and I'm looking forward to sleeping on it tonight. I will have to go to bed extra early to enjoy it's snuggly comfort....shame I have to get up early, I could have tested it's ability to allow you to laze about without getting stiff....oh well, maybe a lay-in on Saturday...not getting up until daylight peeps in at 8am mmmmmmmm

Yesterday I doubled my efforts with exercise, so I'm pleased with myself for that.....I am also pleased with DH who bought an additional heater for the gym as I hate the cold and will use it as an excuse to keep in the cosey warmth of the house...so bless him. I am so lucky, he is so very supportive, both practically and emotionally...he's a keeper...lol!!

I am also pleased with myself for not having empty calories lately, it helps that all the Christmas rubbish is long gone. This has had a two fold effect. I am not as hungry as I have been because I am using my calories for healthier more filling options and my total calories are easier to keep within my chosen boundries. I have fairly loose boundries, anything between 1200 & 1800 cals. I have no preset daily limit but generally average around 1500cals per day. If I've satisfied my hunger and only eaten 1200 I don't add extra on just because....that's been my downfall for too many years (eating for no reason)....instead, if I am more hungry I eat more on that day. It all seems to be averaging out. Some days are just 'hungry days' and fighting them is miserable and will probably (who am I kidding...it will) lead me to binge on rubbish.

Last week on Tuesday I had just such a binge...this week I am planning ahead. It's Ozzy's swimming night, I start work early at 7am so that I can finish at 4.30 which enables Ozzy to have some dinner two hours before his swim. I ate at the same time, so by 8pm I was ravenous and ate the last of the Christmas chocolate...this week I have planned a snack that I can have when we get home, which will keep the evil calorie monster in that dark dark place where it lay in wait for me...Ha ha, foiled your plan evil calorie monster!!!

I have spent rather too much time this weekend looking at things to treat myself with....but it has been fun...!!

The Inland Revenue are cutting me some slack this year, so I have some spends available.....We're not people who can trail around the shops...when I say we...I mean DH (I could bimble around for hours, though trying to make up my mind is difficult, hence DH's reluctance to invest time in a persuit that is usually fruitless)....so I have been sat glued to my laptop for more hours than I care to admit.

DH said I must treat myself, but there is nothing that I really want for, except may be to pay a visit to the US and meet some of you guys....see Bren's calves and try keeping up with Heather on a cycle ride around Central Park, dig some snow and walk dogs with Lydia etc...anyhoo without thinking about it my chosen treats seem to veer towards a healthier mindset....

My first thought was a new kettle, DH was not exactly excited by this...lol. I have found a new water heating device that boils just one cup of water which it has already filtered...saving energy and as our water is very 'hard' gives a healthier brew.

Purchase #2 a memory foam mattress topper. We used to have one but after a total of 10 months of it being used as a make-shift bed on the floor whilst Ozzy recovered from his surgeries, it had to be thrown out. I have not slept as well without it, waking up with pain in my hip and a stiff back renderes me incapable of exercising in the mornings before work....so purchase #2 will help my (our) wellbieng too.

I have also ordered some Biggest Looser cook books from Amazon, you know it's cheaper to buy them from the States and have them shipped to the UK...go figure?? So prchase #3 is has also been made with my health in mind.

Now I am struggling a bit, so any suggestions for a right good treat??
