I deleted my original bio to make room for this update. I am a 56-year-old, asthmatic, ex-smoker, post-menapausal, carb lover who hates to exercise and loves to sleep. For most of my adult life I’ve been over weight.
That exercise thing I tried last year didn’t pan out. No surprise. I do have a task at work that keeps me moving for about 2 hours every week and I shop where I have to pack my own groceries. Add that to hauling them into the house I and it's enough to qualify as a "work out". As long as I keep moving and doing something every week I seem to be doing OK. You won’t be seeing me at the gym anytime soon.
I consider my daily RDI of calories as currency to spend during the day. My goal is to go to bed at the end of the day without feeling hungry and without running out of money.
So I hope this is encouraging to anyone who reads this. It’s not a fad – just consume fewer calories than you need each day and you will lose the weight. Find the foods with the most return on your investment. Feel free to look at my food diary. You’ll see I’m not doing anything drastic and I am not deprived.
My goal weight is in sight. I’ll have to give some thought to my maintenance plan. I don’t want to get bored. I wonder what it will be like not having that next goal to meet. That’s a little scary. I don’t want to fall back into bad habits.
