I am 54 years old and I have struggled with my weight for the past 25 years. I hit my heaviest weight at 199 pounds in December 2007. I have made a commitment to eat healthy and get body in better condition.

I am a RN and work in a small hospital based CHF outpatient clinic. I remarried about 6 years ago and have a very loving and supportive husband. I have two grown children. As ironic as it is, while I'm short (5'4") & stocky my daughter is tall and very slender. She is underweight and even tried to gain weight for her wedding! (Can you imagine having that worry?!!) She is healthy but has been underweight her whole life. I often wonder how this body of mine ever birthed such a skinny little thing! :-)

My first goal was 185 pounds which I met 2/27/08. My next goal is 170. I was close to this goal in June 2008 but got off tract so I'm still working on reaching it. My ultimate goal is about 150 pounds. I may have to take baby steps to get there, but I will succeed!

Being on a renal diet will be extra challenging. In your case you will have to ignore all the post to push fluids! Shock I think you are on the right track by getting rid of the white bread & bad carbs. You can do this! It won't be easy, but you can do it! You are worth it!Laughing Laughing Laughing

50 LB WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE - WELCOME
My activity goal for this challenge is for 210 minutes week.

My wake up call came when my Mother nearly had a heart attack last May. She had to have a heart cath and received a stent. She also has lung problems. My dad died when he was 42 of a heart attack. I was overweight, had high cholestrol, sedendary & getting bigger fast. I am an emotional eater. I felt ashamed & embarrassed. Here I am a nurse whose entire career has been dealing with cardiac patients. I was headed in that direction myself! Also, I run a small heart failure clinic. I was embarrassed just wondering what my patients were thinking as I weighed them and talked to them about ways to keep their weight (fluid) steady so they didn't go into heart failure. It was on my mind daily that I had to make changes. My husband does all the cooking. He loves to cook (& eat). We kept discussing eating better....one day I came home and we were having a good fattening dinner. Afterwards, I felt so bad....I "threw down" the law that we were going to make changes! He got on board and we have been doing so much better ever since. He has lost over 30 pounds & I am 20+ since the first of the year.
