Mother of 4 daughters, 3 still at home. Married 20 years to Christopher. We live in northeast Tennessee. Been overweight most of my life, since I was about 11 years old, and I'm now 41. I know a lot of it is genetic. I have the same body type as many women in my family, and my oldest daughter does too. It may take a lot more work to get thinner and healthier, but I've got to try.

Challenges!
Good for you for getting away from the temptations! At my last job, a coworker kept a big basket full of bite size candy bars on the table in the main workroom, all year long. It was like Halloween every day. Another co worker and I would hide the basket when she wasn't looking, but then she'd notice and get upset and put more candy in it. I think she wanted us to be fatter than her, so she was making sure it happened.

Stay strong and maybe keep a low cal or low fat option at work for these types of meetings?

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
I weigh myself every day when I wake up and I write it on a paper in my bathroom. My husband also weighs himself and we both write it down to kind of challenge each other to keep going and have better weigh-ins than the other.
I don't obsess over any ups because I know they happen, and if things start to look out of the norm compared to the last couple weeks or month's weigh-ins, then I know I need to fix something. Either up the exercise or take a look at calories, time I was eating etc.

Belly...
I'm relatively new here. Been using the calorie counter and journal for a week or so along with my husband. My biggest problem is my belly, specifically my upper abdomen. I really look like I'm about 7 months pregnant, and if I eat something that makes me bloated, I can look like I'm going to pop. I've lost inches in my thighs and waist so far on this weightloss plan, but the inches on my belly haven't budged. I am SO glad I read this thread and head about the HIIT. I had no clue what it meant, so I googled it and found an awesome site that shows beginners how to get started on it a week at a time, complete with music and the trainer's voice on an MP3 for the first workout. It sounded totally like something I could do, so I got on the treadmill and got started tonight after work. I could actually feel it burning in places that I don't normally feel anything when I just walk.

So I am really stoked about this. Thanks to everyone here for such great info and advice, even to lurkers like me.
