I am a 35 year old mother of 2, Tori who is 8 and Zander (stepson) who is 14. I have a very crazy life and have a hard time saying no to anything which is why it is time to start focusing on me!! I am a marketing strategist who specializes in the A/E/C industry. I love to dance, but hate to workout, so I am a fan of zumba and other forms of dance (also loving wii fit!). I loathe treadmills and think people should walk/run in the outdoors (even though I walked on my treadmill last night). I am a yo/yo dieter and tend to starve myself into losing 30 lbs and the result is flabbiness and weight gain, so I am really going to make an effort to change my eating habits for life, and get my booty on the exercise train!

Fox News and HCG Diet
This may cause some controversy but dear friends best friend died this week. She was about 37 and collapsed and died. She had a 1 year old and a 3 year old. I didn't know her well but my good friend has been her bf since highschool and I can't imagine the pain she is going through. I also believe that she is the god mother to the children. Just terrible.

Here is the thing... They performed an autopsy and found nothing wrong with her physically. They need to wait for the toxicology reports to determine what happened and that will take 6-8 weeks. She also just got done with the first round of HCG Diet and lost over 40lbs in 40 days... The medical examiner said that the HCG alone shouldn't have killed her but they won't know for sure until the results her tissue and blood come back.

I know that people don't think it is a big deal, but 500 calories a day is incredibly unhealthy and can wreck havock on the body. I am in no way saying that this diet ended her life early, but they found nothing wrong with her organs/brain and at this point, it is a mystery. Why take the risk with something that has been proven to not work.

Disordered eating: The disorder next door
I already knew I would be very high... I have struggled much especially in my early teen and late teen years. My lowest weight ever was 103 and my highest has been 226 (I'm 5' 8"Wink. I have bounced around and spend many hours in treatment... I think it is tough to generalize with a quiz like this and it certainly isn't scientific at all (trust me, I've had many of those). People who are actively trying to lose weight are going to focus and think more about weight and food than those who aren't, so their scores will be higher just because of that. And true eating disorders have little to do with the food itself. It has much more to do with control/lack of control.

Here is to all of us developing a healthy relationship with food and our bodies!!

How to run for a non-runner
Thanks again everyone! I am inspired to run because of how amazing runners look and I really don't like working out too much yet, so the thought of burning more calories in a short amount of time is so appealing! And hopefully I will develop a love for running in the meantime! Wink
