NEW to RUNNING: Running shoes (skeletoes?)
I'll second the recommendation to go to a running store and get yourself fitted. You can prevent a lot of potential injuries (blisters, shin splints and the like) with a properly fitted shoe, and there's really no way you're going to get that at a store that doesn't specialize in running and trains their employees to properly fit the customer.

Losing fat at the right place
Sorry, there's no way to spot reduce (or the opposite like you want) fat. The body loses fat where it wants, generally (but not always) the last place that you gained is the first place to lose.

The best thing for you to do is build muscle under the fat that you will lose to start defining your body's shape.

Which is better????
More cardio does not equal more fat loss. It may equal more weight loss, but that includes muscle loss. After a point, somewhere between 45-90 minutes, the body runs out of the quick fuel that it burns during cardio and begins to break down muscle. Compare a picture of a sprinter verses a marathoner and decide which type of body you'd like.

There are many people on this site (and others) that say little to no cardio will get you excellent results. It's a mind bender, and it takes effort to break through the preconceived notions we've been taught for years and years. Plus, muscle burns more than fat, and after a strength training workout your body continues the burn for several hours after the activity is done. Once you are done with cardio, your body stops burning the extra calories.

For most of us, a good mixture is key. And the order. 5-10 minute warm up, 20-30 minutes of strength, 20-30 minutes of cardio. Also, you might want to look into high intensity interval training, AKA HIIT.

How do you say "No"?

I have been known to freeze little single-serving cubes of cake myself, if only to keep myself from eating it all. Cake generally freezes wonderfully.

Thank You!

You have just given me knew life when it comes to Birthday cake at work...freeze it! Why didn't I think about that before?! *runs off to kitchen and cake I've been eyeballing for 2 days*

Dairy Queen
Red Robin has the same sort of interactive aspect, complete with pictures. It's fun! Smile So does Moe's Grill, but without the fun graphic. And I think that Wendy's does to. I haven't eaten there in ages, but I remember looking to see how much a burger was calorie wise (I was counting calories at that point) and just being able to take off the bun.
