I am 53 years old and have been trying to lose weight for the last 10 years. I once lost 18 lbs on the Atkins diet and I remember how easy those pounds came of then. Now I am finding that the weight is much more difficult to lose. I am very insulin resistant however I have seen progress on Atkins again. I began the Atkins program 3-4 wks ago and have thus far successfully lost 10 lbs (I could not face the fact of being over 200 lbs so I listed my start weight as 200lbs) but I need to lose 35 more to be healthy and at the weight my doctors prefer I be on (the medical chart) that all I want. I have metabolic sydrome and fatty liver desease which makes it more challenging to lose weight since my body is not metabolizing in the way it should. I want to lose weight to be healthy and feel and look good again. I love the way I am feeling so far I am just sticking with it for health sake, menatlly I find I am much more alert since cutting out carbs and sugar. I am very optimistic that if I stay on the plan for a lifetime that I will be able to resove this yo-yo weight issue and be happy with myself again. The process this time has made me more aware of why I eat and I think that is KEY. I am a very emotinal eater and I have been stuffing my feelings both good and bad for years now after looking at the issues I feel I can overcome the weight problems.
