Crazy scale showed a four pound drop this week. Someone I worked with made the comment, "How much weight are you going to lose?!?" I will take it as a compliment. I'm still not at pre-baby three weight. Patience....Yep, been working at it since Feb. 6th. Two pounds loss, one pound gain. Back and forth all year. On a weekly basis it is maddening but looking at the big picture does show a downward trend.

Completed by 2nd triathlon this year. I'm still waiting for the results to post. The swim was twice the distance as the last triathlon and it was in open water rather than a pool. I noticed after each discipline I still felt strong. So, I'm thinking once the results post I will see some overall improvement from last month. I might even be in the top three for my age group. It wasn't a terribly large race. I went out afterwards and ate veggie pho. I was surprised to see the scale show a loss this morning because I ate a massive ton of vermicelli noodles in the veggie pho. Usually starches like pasta cause me to retain a bit of water weight. Anyway...next triathlon is in 26 days. I'm going to step up the running so that I rock it.

1 sprint triathlon down. I placed first in Athena division. Compared to my last tri in 2014, I was only 1 min slower on the swim and 4 min slower on the bike. The run was ugly though. It was 92 degrees and I was a bit overheated. Going to work on hill repeats in both running and biking. Next tri is in 28 days with double the distance on the swim so I also need to work on my endurance in the lake/pool too. I joined the US Masters Swimteam and got free access to a 25m lap pool just 45 minutes from me. It sure beats paying for a monthly gym membership.

I don't have any soreness at all today. I keep wondering if I pushed myself enough yesterday during the race. All other times when I have ran marathons or halves, I've always had some calf tightness or general soreness for a day or two after. I wonder if it is my diet making inflammation lessen?!?!? Surely I'm not better trained than I was in 2014...

15 August 2017

I've taken two full minutes off my run pace since starting WFPB. Last weekend, I bicycled 20 miles Saturday. Then, Sunday I attended a four hour swim clinic that I absolutely loved. My energy levels are better than ever and I'm continuing to drop weight slowly.

Sprint Tri coming up this Sunday.

Bigger decisions are also in progress. In discussion with my husband last night I confessed that I had been considering hiring a coach to train me for a full Ironman in 2018. However, I had miscalculated a huge political career move. I was thinking I had another year before having to make the career decision....but someone brought it to my attention that I have only five months left. So....full Ironman is on back burner. I'm going to stick with sprints and olympic distances through 2018 with no coach as money and time will be going to the career/political decision. Fingers crossed with lots of prayers it will all work out favorably.

07 August 2017

I started a run streak for the month of August. Must run at least one mile every day for the month of August. I'm doing this in addition to my regular swim, bike, run & elliptical workouts. I use that mile as a tempo run and I've been noticing a little faster paces. So win-win! Plus, I have accountability as I have a group of other friends on Facebook who are doing the streak with me. I finally broke through my plateau and lost 2.2 lbs this past week. Holding tough on the whole food plant based way of eating and have incorporated Intermittent Fasting (16:8) so that all of my morning workouts are done in a fasted state. I do feel much better. Rarely do I feel sluggish. Finished a 30 mile bike ride on Saturday. That is the farthest I have ever ridden. I had a mini meltdown last night because I wasn't happy with my mile pace which was completed in pouring rain and resulted in some mild chafing around my arm and chest but then I got over myself and remembered that not everyone is so fortunate as to be able to run. I have a sprint triathlon in two weeks. I don't feel like my swimming is up to par so I'm attending a 3 hour swim clinic next Sunday. I'm hoping I can get my breathing down better. It's only 2 pounds but I see a significant different in the way my clothes are fitting. I'm thinking I am growing some leg and butt muscles. haha.
