When I was 17 I used to train to get into the police, and was at my peak physical condition. After going to University to study policing for 3 years, the late nights and early mornings, the fast food and lack of exercise all built up. I pursued a different career when I left University, a less physical one, for a few years and I became borderline obese/overweight. I didn't even realise the weight was gaining, until I went on holiday last summer. I saw a photo of myself surfing and was disgusted. I wanted my body back to how it was when I was 17. I was proud of my body back then, but not now. I'm 23 now, and I decided at the beginning of 2012 that it was time to act before it got too far. And I am. I am eating less and moving more. It's simple but it's working for me so far.
