Hi Everyone, just checking in. I have lost the vacation weight and now I'm back on track, though a little behind where I wanted to be a this point. I set myself the goal of losing 4-5 lbs per month, which doesn't seem like a lot but it's actually harder than I expected to keep doing it consistently month after month. But I am past the half way point on the 68 lbs I wanted to lose, so that's really encouraging. I also need to get better about tracking. Since I came back, I haven't been tracking as consistently as I should be doing. Tracking is the absolute best way for me to be successful on Atkins.

Hello, I just joined this website, started Atkins on March 5th, just started my 5th week. I've been stuck this past week at a total weight loss of 8.8 pounds (was up to 10 pounds lost but after that TOM it hasn't dropped back down). Looks like it was because I got excited about having Atkins bread and Atkins pizza in Phase 2, then found out that I shouldn't have whole grains until like 10 weeks into Phase 2! I'm going to try again, cutting back on grains, and start an exercise program. Wish me luck! I'm currently at 155 pounds, would like to get down 15-20 pounds more.

Hi Kim! Welcome! I just looked at the last few days. I see a few possible issues that may be holding you back. Your calories on average are pretty low. Women should try to eat between 1500-1800 a day. Sometimes if you have more to lose, you may find yourself losing better on even higher calories. I seem to lose better on 1900-2000. I know it's hard to wrap your mind around more food=more loss, but with Atkins it is true. You may need to play around a bit and see what works for you. Beware of processed meats(ham, sausage, etc). They can be very high in sodium. I ate too much ham one week and the scale jumped up two pounds in one day! Keep in mind that too much cheese can stall you also. You are lacking a bit in the veggie department. On induction you should be getting at least 12-15 net carbs from veggies. You haven't been logging drinks, so I am not sure how much water you are drinking. If you aren't drinking enough water, it can cause water retention. Not too mention constipation, which can be common on a low carb diet. Hope this helps you out. I am sure others will chime in. With just a little tweaking, you will be amazed at how you lose and feel overall.

You are right, I am having a hard time getting my head around eating more. Not sure what to eat to bring up the calories without the fat or carbs. As far a drinks, I have 1 coffee (16 oz.) w/2 packets of sweet n low every morning followed by water. Love diet coke but try to stay away from it as much as i can. I also try to stay away with any drinks sweetened with aspartame. As far as constipation goes, i wish. I am a too little sensitive to some fibers and sugar alcohols, and salad. Do you think I should move on to Phase 2?

Kim, there's nothing wrong with increasing your calorie intake by adding more healthy fats. Atkins is actually a high-fat diet, not a high-protein diet as many people believe. Try adding some butter to your cooked veggies, and remember you can cook your eggs in butter too. Stir fry veggies in EVOO or in coconut oil. Try adding half an avocado to your salad and remember you can use full-fat versions of Caesar or Ranch dressings if you like them. Nuts are wonderful for adding healthy fat to your diet, and are allowed after the first two weeks of induction. Just remember to measure out your portions as they're easy to overdo if you're not careful. When you really restrict your carbs, your body needs dietary fat as an alternate fuel source. Good luck! ~Carol

Hey group! I haven't been on in a LONG time, but I need to get back on it. No major damage in the weight department, but no loss either in about 6 months! I need some motivation! What you got for me? Heather "Do or do not. There is no try"- Yoda

Hi ladies! Haven't posted here in a while but have been still staying the course. I hit my 30 pounds lost mark today. I am now a third of the way to goal! I was wondering though...has anyone ever had a problem with MIMs stalling? I was eating a MIM every morning M-F for a while and wasn't really losing. I ran out of flax and stopped for a week or two and now have lost three pounds! That's the only real difference in my diet that I can see.

Hello Ladies! I haven't been here in forever and I see a lot of new faces! I went off of Atkins for a while but now I'm back and ready to get going again. I'm happy to say that I didn't undo all the hard work I put into it the first time around. I had lost about thirty pounds and have only put 10 back on so I'm happy about that. It could have been a lot worse!
Sierra - Your question about the MIMs - I ate them for a while and would only have them for breakfast a couple of times a week and never had an issue with them, but I have heard of other people who stalled after eating them. Maybe you should just cut them out a couple of days a week and see how that goes for you?
Happy to be back!

Thanks Amy! And welcome back! I have cut them out altogether for a while. I still take a flax oil supplement every day and make flax crepe once or twice on the weekends. The crepe only takes 2 tbs instead of the 1/4 cup in the MIM.

Hi Everyone, just checking in to see how you are all doing. I feel like it's taken me forever to lose the last 10 pounds, and I still have 23 more to go. I've been on Atkins since last September and really have stuck to it. My biggest problem is not eating enough vegetables - if I've learned anything on Atkins, it is that being prepared with foods all ready in the fridge can really make the difference for me. Otherwise I turn to nuts, cheese, and deli meats, which are all "allowed" on Atkins, but I don't lose weight when I eat too much of these. Hope to get back on track this week and start losing at least 2 lbs per week again.

Hello Ladies, I've been on FS for a couple of weeks and just found this group. It seems that I am constantly finding new ways to use this site and interesting avenues to explore. I've been on Atkins since mid April. I'm in induction and plan to remanin there for quite some time. I had a good deal of difficulty intially with the up, down, and stalling, but have strengthened my resolve to stick with the program. The losses have not been what I expected, but knowing my body and my self, my response has always been sluggish. My expectations are often more optimistic than realistic. Every day I am tweaking the diet a bit more. I hope to one day get it right and get into the groove of a steady weight loss. If not, I'll keep working at it. I share the frustrations of others with handling the stalling, weight gain, and other challenges of this huge commitment. If the journey was simple, it wouldn't be called work. I applaud those of you who have and are doing so well. Thank you so much for creating this group.

Hello Ladies! It's nice to find such a great group. I lost 30 lbs on Atkins several years ago but had to stop for surgeries and other related issues then never got back on track. So here I go again... =] I just started Thursday but am already starting to feel better. I'm very excited to be doing this journey with you all! I've heard that the chains of habit are generally too small to be felt until they are too strong to be broken. That just means you have to unravel them instead. We can do it!

Hi Everyone I am happy to join a group that hopefully will have interaction. I did Atkins last year and was doing really well...down to like 207#, but then fell off and took me a couple of times to jump back on. Needless to say that I gained some weight back but at least I got 'back on' before I gained everything back. So now I have lost 6#'s and still working on it. Motivation is a key note for me and so I am really thrilled that this group seems to have some people that are active everyday. Start weight 245# 1st goal: 220# - met 04/07/11 2nd goal: 210# - met 05/21/2011 Start over: 221# 11/08/11 Start over: 233.2# 10/2012 Start over goal met: 220# 11/14/2012 Mini goal to be in 212's by Dec - met 12/31/2012 Mini goal: 207's by end of January- met: 01/16/2012 Mini goal: 202's by end of Feb - met 01/31/2013 Mini goal: 197's by end of Mar - met 02/27/2013 Mini goal: 192's by end of Apr - Mini goal: 187's by end of May - Mini goal: 182's by end of June- Mini goal: 177's by end of July-

Hi Everyone, so nice to see some new faces and people being really successful on Atkins. I just went for a physical after being on Atkins for 9 months. He was very impressed that I have lost almost 50 lbs, my blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides were really good. He said something funny, though. He said, it almost makes me believe that Atkins can work. Shows that even with the real evidence (blood tests, etc) mainstream doctors have a hard time believing in a low carb diet.
