Hello everyone! I am new here, and a week into my atkins induction. I will be doing extended induction because I have a large amount to lose. I am a mother to 3 children, a nursing student, and I work part time mostly over nights. Anyways, I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself Smile

Hello and welcome. I also am on week one and am a grandma raising 3 grandchildren. I was a nurse and remember nursing school well. Take care of yourself as the first few weeks can be rather tiring as your body adjusts to using fats instead of sugar for fuel!!

I am a week and a half into induction. Seems to be getting easier. I don't seem to have the cravings for carbs/sweets so bad. Is it bad to drink the sugar free drink mixes to get your water in?

Yes and no. For some people the sugar free drink mixes can cause weightloss to slow. Just keep on eye on it. If you feel like you aren't losing anything, I would cut them out.

Sugar free anything. Make sure it contains sucralose (Splenda) and not aspartamine. Atkins says no to aspartamine.

Hello Everyone,

Today is one week for me on Induction. I just love the way I feel, not to mention the 2 pounds I lost!

I am hoping to find friends in a support group.

Hi Everyone!

Tomorrow I am starting the "Induction Phase" of Atkins. I am going to try to make it work with what I already have in my kitchen and avoid spending a million dollars on meat and cheese. I've "followed" every diet under the sun, and the lb's have been creeping up. I am 41, so I think some of it is age and not considering wine and cocktails as calories Smile That will be the hardest part for me...cutting out alcohol!

Started Induction today, feel pretty good, but the evening is the hardest! I'm going to get in the tub and read Smile

Caladona, I agree about the evenings. I am near the end of my first week and am hungry in the evenings. I don't see where the book addresses eating in the evenings, but have only read thru the induction chapter. Only three meals plus two snacks are mentioned, so I haven't been snacking in the evenings. I am hoping it will get better in week two.

You can eat whenever during the day as you are not meant to let yourselves get hungry. I snack on some bacon or boiled eggs in the evening. I dont have the bars as they slow down my weight loss. Have you tried the website? there is loads of info, hints etc on there. You dont hace to stick to the 3 meals 2 snacks, this is just an example. Once you have done Atkins for longer you might notice your appetite will curb a bit. Hope this helps x
