Hey Fitbitter's - Here's my experiment! I went to the gym over the weekend, so I could count the aprox number of steps in walking a mile. For me, my stride length, an average speed of about 3.6 on a 2.0 incline... and I came up w/ about 2400. THEN I came home and this morning I did an at home mile of walking in my house. Some of that was moving, some marching in place, some lightly jogging in place, some back to walking but w/ a bit of a samba step involved Anywho - I again counted deliberately up to 3,000 steps... (allowing for a slight discrepancy w/ the speed/incline from the treadmill example) and I am only at 1800 recorded on my fitbit! ;( What's up with that? Do any of you notice if yours in not very accurate depending on the activity you are doing? Obviously, I know I did the exercise, and in my head I can keep track... but is there any way on the site to ENTER MANUALLY if you find a discrepancy like this??? thanks for any input! Paula I do notice that if I do anything other than walking say like doing the dance with ABBA..it didn't show as many steps so I guess it only shows the actual forward motion...I bet Stef would know the answer for sure...Sorry... ) Yesterday is gone..tomorrow never gets here..There is only today..

Paula, I've noticed a number of discrepancies. For instance, last night I was at my son's house for dinner and a movie. His theater is downstairs. I went upstairs twice, but it only recorded once. The day I went to the emergency room in an ambulance, fitbit said I went up four flights of stairs. There were no stairs involved . . . or even an elevator. LOL! Your sleep is, apparently recorded only by the movement of the arm you have the fitbit on. I frequently wake at night, but if I don't move that arm, fitbit says I had 100% sleep efficiency. It doesn't really count stationary exercise, like elliptical (and probably dancing or walking in place). I believe that's when you are supposed to use the stopwatch feature and fill in an "activity record" of what exercise you were doing. If you are really concerned, I would contact fitbit customer service. I checked. Under the activity log they have things like cycling, running, treadmill, elliptical and zumba. I would say that these activities don't log accurately. Anyway, the answer is, "Yes, you can enter the activities manually and keep track of the time with the stopwatch." OMG, I just looked at some of the other log-able activities. One of them is "Anishinaabe Jingle Dancing". I want to know where I can get a class on that! Going to the gym this afternoon, hooking it to my bra instead of to my hip/pants. Gonna see if that matters??? Hope you are all stepping up your day! Ha! Love. Live, Love, Laugh ...make each day memorable and enjoy the journey.
