chloresteral - up; triglycerides - up; bp - up ... sure gets a gal thinking! time to get serious. i want to see my grandkids graduate from college, ya know? fresh fruits & veggies; whole grain pasta, brown rice only; whole wheat if any bread. lean meats & fish only. no animal fat no ground beef, pork, bacon. no sweets!!! no taters no fried food no ice cream - but sure love braums fat free yogurt as a treat!

Hi there gmaritter. I too got a real wake-up call when I saw my blood levels going to bad places. My overall cholesterol was not so bad, but the ratios were. Sounds like you have a good plan to get started on changing the direction of things.
FYI, I found when I just did the traditional low fat, high fiber approach, I did not have any real success in changing the direction of the numbers. But eliminating ALL refined carbs; sugar, flour, rice...all those white foods...made a big difference. I was struggling to lose the pounds still, and things are moving a little better with Atkins, but it is still a struggle to lose the weight now, compared to when I was younger.
