Just a question: do you think it is harder to lose weight as you get older and why?

Hi Dollaqie! And YES. I have yo-yo'd my entire life, from about 140-240 lbs. I began a diet a couple of weeks ago, and have lost 4.5 lbs. I guess that is pretty on target, but 15 years ago, I would have lost 10 lbs. by now eating and exercising the same way (or even less.) It's somewhat shocking, and takes more resolve because I know this is going to take a very long time. But - since the idea is a permanent lifestyle change - this is probably good reconditioning for me. I'm interested to hear of others' experiences.

Yes, I think our metabolisms are slower and our habits are more ingrained. Our bodies have been at this higher weight longer and want to stay there.

However, I have to believe that it can be done. I have seen several people in my age group and older successfully lose 50-100 pounds and I am determined to be one of them.

Yes, I am in menopause, I am less active, and my thyroid is not working at an optimal level.
