r/keto

 Summary:

Fiber is great and doesn't count towards your daily carb totals. Eat your veggies!

Remember, fat makes food taste good, helps your body absorb vitamins, and keeps you feeling full longer. :)

A good macro-nutrient ratio to aim for is 65% calories from fat, 30% from protein and 5% from carbs. If you eat the same amount, by weight, of fat as you do protein it'll come out pretty close to 65% and 30%.

seehymeh's top tips

1.Eat fat and avoid carbs (from sugar). Breads, pastas, and starchy vegetables should be avoided.
2.If the veggie grows above the ground, then it's probably fine to eat. Underground vegetables, like potatoes, should be avoided.
3.Don't count calories, just eat until you're satisfied.
4.http://www.carbgenie.com/ for low carb foods
5.www.reddit.com/r/keto for motivation.

About / History

I got my information from a plethora of sources, but it all started at www.reddit.com/r/keto. This is a motivational place with plenty of members that this diet is working for. Be sure to read the information in the links on the right side of the page including "a doctor's guide to ketosis."

Remember to consult your doctor about this diet. Keep in mind this is very similar to atkins, and it is very important that you continue to consume some vegetables. I think the Atkins recommendation is 4 cups a day of veggies. Do your research! I am not a doctor, I don't know what I'm doing, and I'm going on the gut feeling that 6816 readers on r/keto are onto something.

Also check out www.reddit.com/r/loseit for some additional motivation.
