I'm not sure what this means. I subtract 1000 calories from my daily activity and the number that is left is what I can eat based on what I did for activity. 1000 calories x7 days equals 2 pounds per week. Anything more than that wouldn't be safe. Does -1500 mean I have to take 1500 calories off my daily activity and that is what I should eat? Or am I not understanding?
This is what I do:
Burned: 2800 Subract: 1000 (x7 = 2 lbs) Consume: 1800

Hi Coconutprincess. I work the opposite direction than you and I let Fatsecret do all the math for me....when you go to your "Diet Calendar", it should show you each day on a row, along with your Food Calories, %RDI, Nutritional summary, Exercise calories.
That very last column is your "Net". I actually call it a "Calorie Deficit". That number is derived by taking your total exercise calories (which includes deskwork, sleeping, walking etc), then subtracting your food calories.
What's cool about looking at this view in Fatsecret is that if you are in "deficit" there is a little green down arrow next to the net #. When you have a red up arrow next to it, you are eating more calories than you are burning
So, looking at your diet calendar, on the 23rd, you exercised 3211 cals, and you ate 1982. Subtract and you have a deficit (or NET) of 1229 which is great !

Okay so as long as that deficit is 1000 or higher with little green arrow pointing down, then I'm good... the lower the number, the closer I am to hitting the red and then going up with a red arrow. It makes sense!
