For the past week I have really been watching my calories and have worked out every day. I do at least 30min to an hour of cardio a day and also weight train for at least 30minutes. Whenever I do workouts I wear a slimming belt to help me sweat a little more and shed some water. Fatsecret suggested my RDI would be 1900 cal and I have followed that every day. Why then would I GAIN four pounds this week??

Needless to say I am frustrated Mad . Has anyone else experienced this? What are your calorie intakes?

For one, Misty, you are doing a great job. The fact of the matter is, muscle weighs more than fat, and I would imagine you're probably going to gain a bit before it starts shedding off. Working out that hard, especially if its a new routine, your body is gonna take some time to adjust.

I don't know your personal stats, but if I went by my RDI from this site, I wouldn't be getting anywhere either. For MY body (I'm under 5' tall, mind you), 1300-1500 calories is my MAINTENANCE base metabolic rate, depending on my level of activity. My RDI here is 1200, and I usually use that as a cap, normally trying to shoot for 200 or so kcal less, on average. Also, not all calories are the same, so it may be due to the food combinations you are choosing.

I highly suggest you get a fabric measuring tape and take your measurements for a starting point, and let your body tell you what you need.
If you can spend years beating yourself up mentally and remain standing, you can HANDLE a few muscle cramps and cravings. A little pain has NOTHING on feeling insecure. Remember that next time you wanna quit. You can do this!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to share this with me. I think I'll do some more research on a good calorie intake!

You're welcome. The whole point of joining a challenge is so that others have your back, right? Wink I only hope it helped a bit.

I know that I lose when I stay in between 1000-1100. The less you are to begin with, the less calories you need to maintain. If I go under 1000, I don't lose either.
The problem with the past week is that I didn't keep track of calories...of course when I don't keep track I eat more than I estimated I did.
Two bad weekends, and I am back at the weight I started at 2 weeks ago. Need to get serious.
I bought two size 26 skirts and they are TIGHT and I look fat in them. Maybe that's good motivation to get serious again.
