Infrequently, I enjoy foreign snacks, pocky, green tea chocolates, and ramune to name a few. And in most cases the food item will not scan with my fiancé’s phone app and there is no match when I search for the food via the website. Now, I know I can add a new item, but that takes a long time. Most of the time I can’t really decipher how many calories are in an individual item without doing some math… Doubt Eww…

So I try to equate it with something Fat Secret recognizes. ChocoCrunchies = Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Unless it’s something that I know my fiancé or I will be eating for quite some time. Like him and his Krave Jerky. I think I’ve entered in most of the flavors they sell.

Just wondering what you guys did. Smile

I generally add them in. I only equate things like curries. For example, if I made a chickpea curry from scratch, it varies each time I make it. So I just put in the cooked chickpea and curry sauce separately.

Of course, if I cooked them without oil, I just add the ingredients. For the packaged stuff, I generally add them in just in case I want to have them again or maybe someone else wants them.

I do the same Bluebox:

I will also look for something close already listed that has around the same nutritional values as what Im eating and just use that item instead. A cookie is a cookie in my opinion.

Its far more important to get it logged in and get close by admitting we ate something and logging it in our diet calender then it is to be exactly precise on its values

I agree...with the Captain..if I can't find something simlar I break it down or find something that compares to what I had. The most important thing is to just log everything you eat...we will all have good and bad days...just keep on living..

Thanks for letting me know that the most important thing is to get it logged in. I wish I could be as diligent as ambtreh, but I don't have the patience! Very Happy

When I cannot find what I want to eat in the existing FS database, I add it to the database using the nutritional information on the package. It is very easy - I recently added my favorite fat free salad dressing since it was not listed. This way I am accurate on sodium, carbs, fats, etc.
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

I do not normally eat pre-packaged foods that have the nutritional guide on them and I do a ton of cooking from veg recipe books that do not have the nutritional values in them. If you are like that, try this FREE web site...

http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp

It calculates any recipe or food that you are eating. I almost live at that web site. Then I add the food into the data base on FS. So now when I cook it again it is there with the recipe name, calories etc for me.
