i'm with you! i've been searching internet off & on for the past week looking for holiday meals & treats i can have. normally, turkey day & christmas are the meals i always splurge on (fat, calories, etc.) i never cared about the nutrition just as long as it was savory & delish!

I'm going to satrt posting some next week or so when I start experimenting. I heard mashed cauliflower is a decent sub for potatoes and I'm going to try my own cranberry sauce with splenda. I make a mean splenda apple/pear pie too! Still splurges, but atleast somewhat controlled and I don't have to sit sulking in the corner while everyone enjoys!

I don't know about trading sugar for splenda! I've heard so many bad things about artificial sweetners, and I can't justify using them. I've heard of some new ones people have been using, and it's all natural. Check out Stevia... one brand is Truvia, and I hear it tastes as good as sugar. I haven't had the opportunity to use the product yet, mostly because I don't make sweets at home, and when I need to sweeten my plain yogurt, I use agave nectar. It's kind of like honey.

I use stevia, agave and honey...depending on what I need it for. Truvia is derived from stevia, but it's still chemically altered or has something added to it-can't remember-but it's still not a pure form. Sweet Leaf is my brand of stevia. I keep packets in my purse for when I'm at a restaurant so I don't have to use sugar, pink, blue or yellow packs. They also have a liquid form that I use for my coffee at home. I haven't tried the vanilla flavored yet but want to.

Jillian Michaels has a GREAT brownies recipe that I have made several times and fooled everyone. Whole wheat flour, honey, cocoa, unsweetened applesauce, egg, baking soda, baking powder, olive oil and vanilla extract. I add walnuts to it too. Tastes better I think. google it, you will find it.

Thanks for the correction, ppphhhttt. I haven't actually found the need to get stevia yet, so now I'll be on the lookout when I DO need some! Smile
