Greetings, fellow Mindful Eaters. This is a great way to really enjoy the food you're eating and help you make good food choices. I hope this challenge successfully helps us all eat well, and take the time to enjoy great food!

Introduce yourself if you like. Submit your tips and recipes. Let us know your challenges, ideas, and any goals you have included with this challenge.

I look forward to a wonderful journey of enjoyment. Food and eating are some of my favorite things, I want to make better choices and really enjoy what I eat.

Thank you again!

Cheers!

Thank You for this challenge. Mindfulness is something I have been working on for about a year. I find it difficult to hold my attention for too long, so I recently have been going to the library and checking out audio tapes related to mindfulness that I can listen to in the car going to and from work. This tool has helped keep me on track and accountable for my food choices.

Hello everyone!
Ok, so I'm not very talkative on this website (part because I'm French speaking, part because I don't come here often), but I've decided to try one of those "challenges". Right now I am pretty motivated eating well and going to the gym, but I know soon enough I'll need some help keeping it up.

I've started cooking my own food last week. I'm not a very good cook, takes me a lot of time and planning, etc. BUT... when I got my spinach&cheddar crustless quiche out of the oven last night, I thought "Wow... I think I can do it!" (Smelled soooo good!!!)
I think eating something I took time and energy preparing myself makes me appreciate it more... I'm making peace with food as I learn how to prepare meals that I actually enjoy eating! Spent so much time eating stuff just to feel full without even tasting it for real! Fast-food actually tastes like crap!!!
For me, mindfulness means knowing what food tastes like and be able to enjoy it.

Awesome work, all. Sounds like you are already working on this challenge!

Right now i'm trying not to eat standing up, or over the sink (no dishes!). just sit down & enjoy. make the time to sava the flava. difficult in the am before work, but doable. i woke up late this am anyway.

fast food is really horrible. i've abstained for a while, and when i splurge i get really sick. besides, it doesn't fill you up for very long.

i've been eating fruit & veg all day, & i'm so full on the deliciousness. and i don't feel crappy.

the great thing about cooking is you get better, you can change recipes to suit your tastes, & it's a relaxing accomplishment.

right now i'm planning my daily meals in advance and packing my lunches/snax the night before. it's working well.

peace & love -d

I was doing really good lost 18lb's then I started feeling sad and eating everything in sight. I have gained 3lb since going down this path. I want to get back on track this is my first step!

Looking forward to the beginning of this challenge in a few days! Thanks to all the FS members who have accepted this challenge. For myself, I want to learn to respect my body; what & how I eat. I've already started to make changes. I've been measuring & packing lunches & snacks, making a consious effort to eat slowly & drink water during meals, & enjoy. It's like dining euro-style (without the 2 hour lunches). The challenge for me is i snack frequently at work, & have trouble taking my time between running to the next task. Mindful eating is good eating. I feel fuller longer.

Hit a plateau last week, really frustrated me. I wasn't consuming enough calories or water. With the help of some FS buddies, I've changed my ways & have noticed a definite difference in the weight fluctuations.

Good luck to all!

Peace & love, - d

Thank you all for your posts & progress. I'm really glad everyone is enjoying this challenge! It's a pleasure to be aware of the food, surroundings, and those around us. It's part of slow food, enjoyment, and conscious change. I feel very European, especially at dinner, as I leisurely enjoy conversation and relaxation at the table.

Peace & Love
