I get the 8 glasses of water a day. Zero calories, zero grams of fat... just pure and filling. But milk? Sure it's healthy, but it also has sugar and fat and calories. Even if you drank skim, at 90 calories a cup that's nearly 800 extra calories at the end of the day, not to mention the additional grams of sugar.

Perhaps, while milk should be encouraged, we should solely be focusing on large quantities of water as a filler for this group?

I believe milk is important to drink during the day, but it should not be the "go to" drink. Milk has a great protein to calorie ratio. You just need to make sure it is factored into your calories, treat it like a food instead of a way to get liquid.

I think people are confusing the guidelines "Guidelines:
Drink 8 cups (68 fl oz) of water a day. Tea without any sugar or milk counts as well."

Does this mean Water or Tea without sugar/milk? or Does it mean Water or Milk or Tea without sugar?

I read it as Water or Tea withough sugar/milk, but I had to read it twice. Smile

yeah, it's tea without sugar or milk counts. That was how I meant it. Sorry for the confusion.
