What are the best ways of getting out of slumps or period's of time when you just dont feel like working out or eating right? How do YOU get out of your slumps?

I just push on. Last night I really didnt want to go work out but I just had to put my mind set in "skinny mode", lol. What I mean is you cant let your lack of motivation keep you from attaining your goal. Just force yourself to go or to choose a healthier snack, you will feel better for it at the end of the day. and when you see those pounds adding up and you getting smaller, you will be proud.

writing everything down helps me a lot so i can see on paper. i also have a desk calendar that i have to see everyday and so i highlight with bright green the days that i work out...its great to see how many blocks i can color in a week.
also, when i dont want to do something, i get to the gym, and say i'll just do 5 minutes on the treadmill but by the time im changed and actually on the machine i keep going. the hard part is getting started. if after the 5 minutes i dont want to continue, then i stop and tell myself 'you stuck to the five minutes, you'll finish up tomorrow''.....yes i talk to myself.

hope this helps!

If i feel like eating when i shouldn't i find keeping my hands buisy helps; having music on and doing knitting, coloring in or studying helps or reading blogs is another good one i normally get so into it that i forget what food it was i wanted in the first place.

as for not wanting to exercise i do what "molines" said; just say i'll do a bit any i usually stay longer. sometimes i feel really lazy and so i say i'll just go to the pool for 20 mins and i'll usually stay an hour.

You just need to find something that works for you Smile

I remind myself that it's those funks and lack of motivation that got me to where I'm at now, and that if I want to change, then I better snap out of it Smile
Change my thinking to "I WANT to do this!" and it's no longer a chore.

I walk every morning and 1 morning I skipped, then the next morning and before I knew it, I had skipped 1 month! I really enjoy the walking so it's a mystery (with iPod in hand of course!). I started again last week, and I just do it - no other way to get out of not doing. I've always said the hardest part of getting exercise is the first step - getting out the door, or in the car to the gym. Just take that very first effort and you're there. Then I'm sooo pleased with myself that I did it.

Ha! I just discovered that sitting on an exercise ball while watching TV is a good way to work out. The comercials make a great time to do streaches and short workouts. ;o)
