I did Atkins years ago and loved it. I wanted to do well on this challenge because I have a lot of weight to lose and need the jumpstart that Atkins provides. I am looking at staying on the plan a minimum of 6 months but I am struggling with just exactly what the induction phase consists of. Is it basically very low carb, 12-14 grams a day? I've got a list of allowed foods and i know my carbs should come from veggies. Am I missing anything?

I'm in need of a little direction too!

I had the old Atkins book. I always understood it to be 20g of carbs per day with most coming from vegetables. Don't eat until you're stuffed, eat until you are satisfied. No sugar, no bread, starchy vegetables, etc.

It's been a while since I've read it so, I'm kind of winging it and eating based on how I ate when I was on Atkins before. I don't really know what changes have been made in the book they call DANDR. I count carbs and drink a lot of water. I don't like sweetners so, that's not an issue and I know it can be for some.

I'm going to do a little more reading up on the DANDR, I may order it from Amazon.

Hope you have a great day!

I signed up on the Atkins website. It has all of the information and food lists for each stage. I just bought Atkins for Life at Goodwill for $1. A lot of people think this is a no carb way of life and just get rid of the book. If you can't do induction then start in OWL. You get more carbs and you don't feel deprived. The weight just comes off slower. I start in OWL. I just can't do induction with only 20 net carbs allowed per day. Good luck guys.
