"I realized yesterday that sometimes the serving size of something like frozen vegetables is more than the the serving referenced in the FDA's recommendation for fruits and vegetables. Except for leafy greens where it's a cup, most vegetable serving sizes are 1/2 cup. Like last night I made some french cut string beans and realized what I was counting as 2 servings toward my daily goal, going by the bag, actually counted as 4 servings toward my goal. "

"Wow, I really dropped the ball yesterday. I went to a friend's house for the day, as I promised to help her with some prep work for her daughter's baptism party at the end of the month. I started out the day with a piece of fruit, as usual. I thought how hard could it be to fit in another piece of fruit and some veggies at some point during the day? Well, I got no other fruit or veggies all day. She has 3 kids and her husband was at his parents dealing with some family stuff. So, it was pizza for dinner. We were doing test runs on some candy favors, so I picked a lot at those. All in all, it was a lesson for me. While I'm trying to lose weight, planning is key. I can't trust that the things I need to eat will just magically be available at someone else's house. I need to pack and be prepared."
