Watch the fruit combined with other foods...better consumed by itself.
Cutting wheat out of my diet actually lowered the intensity of my cravings for sugary foods, especially pastries and ice cream (my major triggers). I replaced wheat with emphasis on brown rice, gluten-free oats, whole flax seeds and allowed medium GI foods like apples and carrots in case I had cravings.
Fighting INTENSE sugar cravings (well, sugar and FAT cravings) and managing with my old standby the red delicious apple and other fruits which I'm trying to balance out with filling low GI foods like brown rice.
A red delicious a day. I know they are not low on the GI scale but sweetness and fiber help me with my incredible sugar and fat cravings.
If you get a little off track...Just get back on track asap. Don't give up on the rest of the day or week.
