CathyJo77 's Journal, 27 February 2010

Woohoo! Weigh in at home was 148 this morning (my scale only weighs to the nearest .5 lbs) and at WW was 150.2 for a 1.2lb loss this week! While waiting in line at WW I reviewed my many, many weigh ins over the past 6 years. In 2004 I was my lowest, having lost 35 lbs to take off the weight I gained in grad school and to honor my mother who passed away the previous fall (weight put on due to lOTS of stress). I got down to the 130's but found that was an unrealistic weight for me to maintain. In 2005 I was around 142-145 and that felt right for me. Since then it's been a bit of a yo-yo. The last couple years I'll manage to get down to 145 for a short time but then "go off the diet" and regain 10-15 pounds. Menopause hasn't helped!! I had time this morning to reflect how this time I want this weight loss to be different; a lifestyle change, not a diet. Learning to enjoy "red light" foods in moderation is a huge challenge for me and will be part of this learning process.
148.0 lb Lost so far: 11.0 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is fantastic! You have worked so hard and you did it! What will you do to celebrate? You need a really good treat. I really like the red, green, and yellow light lesson at Weight Watchers also. It is a good guide to living a healthier life style. You go girl!!! Enjoy the 0 status on your pounds left to lose! I can't wait to get there.

Thanks MJ! I can't thank you enough for your support. I am quite sure I would have given up about 7 weeks ago if it wasn't for your encouragement! I hope now to change my goal to 145 now that I see I CAN do this...and then I can wear ALL my bike jerseys once again - yeah!!

Congrats! I too am happy with my weight right now, just toning the mid section for now and if weight loss comes along with it then great! You have the right mind set about lifestyle change rather than "diet". I too recognize where I was gaining. I decided in order not to waste food I would eat whatever my 3 year old didn't want. So I would pile his plate with the goodies then "have" to eat it when he didn't finish it! This was an important breakthrough for me since I didn't realize I was doing it. Now I see that I was eating all the wrong foods and not in moderation! I loved sitting down with a bag of my son's cookies! Now I learned to have one cookie if I want and that's it, but I have to watch it cuz that's when the cravings come on strong. You go girl!

Wonderful focus - You can be proud of your accomplishments...and I have no doubts you'll get lower if that's where you decide you need to be...!! Congrats on all your hard work...! Keep it up...!
