TGIF and Happy May! I'd forgotten yesterday that it was May, so a happy belated one today!

I've sailed through this week NSNGng and plan to let the sailing continue through the weekend, bringing as much of my weekday routine with me as feels right. We have dinner plans with 2 couples tomorrow night, but otherwise the weekend is open. My upcoming trip though will fill it with the To-Do's that need to get To-Done before I go. Shopping & stocking tomorrow and up to work on Sunday as I'll then be gone from there for 10 days. But, I'm happy, healthy & sooooo excited for this trip! I never thought having one of my son's graduate could be so exciting, and combined with a surprise visit with him to see my Mom… all the more so! I haven't seen this DS in about 2 months, so I can't wait to get my hands on him! Even the then 13 hour car ride home sounds like fun - LOL - says this gal who can't stand to be in a car for more than 2 hours at a time!

Yesterday's meditation workshop proved in itself to be a test in mindfulness as the presenter was stuck in horrific, storm flooding traffic/detours and was about 30 minutes late. Luckily, I was with one of my closest IRL friends, so it gave us girl time. My take-away from the workshop series was that meditation is an exercise in being mindful. It can be being mindful of your breathe, thoughts, surroundings, as guided in a guided mediation, etc. and by practicing meditation regularly (hopefully 4-5 times/week for 10-15 minutes ea), this mindfulness flows more easily & naturally to everyday living. I plan to continue the practice as part of my journey toward living & eating mindfully, and do believe I'm already reaping benefits from it.

I'm off to tennis later this morning, and have a manicure this afternoon to be sure my nails are in tip-top shape for the trip. Then, the prep begins! Happy TGIF, my awesome FS friends… wanna start it with me in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And throughout this one day and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way. I'm so very grateful for each of beyond wonderful you, my family & IRL friends, the torrential rain stopping followed by a beautiful and sunny afternoon yesterday, hot bulletproof coffee, seeing my boy in just 4 days and celebrating his college accomplishments, surprising my Mom in 8 days, and having the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox

It sounds like a wonderful trip ahead and maybe you can practice some of those meditation skills along the way if needed. Thanks for sharing info on the meditation it sounds like a healthy addition to your life. Have a wonderful Friday and I really believe that this is the weekend to prove that your mindful eating skills will carry through.

I didn't realize you were driving. That's a long drive if you don't particularly like being a passenger that long. DH is giving too I think? At least for the graduation part But exciting to see your son again and your mum will I hope be thrilled and appreciate her daughter and grandson. Exciting indeed. You have so many 'tools' now to pack you may need an extra suitcase. Lol.

I'm losing my mind. I've read this journal at least six times and keep thinking I'm commenting...are you deleting my comments? I'm not even going to pretend to try to leave anything inspirational or poetic this time. Hope you have a great weekend. Would NOT want to be in a car that long... a four hour drive this weekend included at least FIVE stops for me :-)
