Ruhu's Journal, 19 February 2014

Another good nights sleep, so hopefully I'm now caught up! Even though I'd slept well Mon night, I was still really tired throughout the day yesterday. But now, hopefully thats all behind me.

I'm loving my FitBit Force & Aria Scale, but the body fat % accuracy on it now makes me wonder. My weight is staying fairly consistent (overeating incident on Sunday & all) at 122ish. But the BF % dropped from 19-20% to 13 % today, which is closer to what my old scale had been saying. I'd read online that how much water you're retaining impacts its calculation & that its more prone to swings like that, butt that seems like quite a fluctuation & makes me wonder about the accuracy. I'll have to read more.

I'm feeling good, as usual, now that I'm back on track mindfully eating gluten, lactose & sugar aware. I've also been mindfully eating 16:8 IF, i.e. within an 8 hour window. The mindful part comes in when I'm truly hungry outside that window, then I choose to mindfully eat or not. I'm liking the window approach, and it works well for me since I workout in the morning in a fasted state as suggested to burn the most fat & build muscle (both good for me as I age). And on the mindfulness front, I'm discovering, for me, 2 important keys are finding that pause, that crucial moment to stop & decide am I hungry, and then if I am, to take the time to plate, focus on & enjoy my food. Sounds so easy, doesn't it?

This morning I'm off to workout, then errands, book work & my call with my health coach this afternoon. But first, I'll pray --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And for this one day, and through each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, journal, log & express my way. I'm so very grateful for each of Positive & Pleasant you, my family & IRL friends, no snow & warming temps, and having the health & wealth to live this life I love!

I don't know much about scales but I would certainly check that out and make sure it is accurate since you paid good money for it. I still haven't bought one yet. I did get a new battery for mine...but that's as far as I've gone so far. lol Good for you for another great night of rest. I don't know what is happening to me but the last 2 nights I have been up so many times. Definitely have to change that..Have a happy day Ruth.

Okay, that's it .. I just put a fitbit in my amazon cart to research later... I'm interested, LOL. I may resume my gadget geekdom after all. (( I was the first on the block w/the book light, key fob that responded to clapping when lost, etc)) I must try this device now. Hope you get your commission! I too was weary yesterday despite good sleep; am hoping today has more energy for both of us. Have a wonderful day, my friend.

I have the Fitbit picked out for my Christmas wish list. I have a great Tanita scale but it is about 6 years old and I want a newer fancier one. You sound well and focused. I'm glad you shared this journal to help keep me focused!

Must be the good night's sleep because you make it sound easy - LOL. But we all know the reality of it.
