Ruhu's Journal, 24 January 2014

Up a lb., but after all the love yesterday, that scale can be damned! I am much more than that number, I'm healthy & fit, and back to building my mindful eating & living highway one step at a time. And I won't forget the strides I'd made traveling, returning home & spending time with my Mom. I'm thrilled to have made so many great memories with her on this trip knowing that as the Alzheimer's progresses, our times together will change too.

Today I'm off to tennis, which I haven't played since before the holidays, so wish me luck! It's like riding a bike, right?!? Dinner with some friends tonight & working on that to-do list in between. We're out to dinner also on Sunday night with MIL, so when DH mentioned going out with some friends to a comedy night on Sat night, I without hesitation, said "NO", but that he could go if he wanted to. "I had too much on my plate" (from his to-do list!) to be out that much this weekend. At least that list can be my excuse to not over-socialize for awhile.

I have to again say how much each of you & our special place here means to me. Whenever I'm feeling off, journaling here helps so much, and then reading the love & support you all so willingly give always brightens my day & puts the smile back on my face. Thank you, thank you, thank you for that, and for being amazing you!

Now I'm ready to start my day, in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And I'll remind myself to take this one day & each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion each one at a time, praying, breathing, logging, journaling & expressing my way. In case you're still not sure, I'm so very, very grateful for each of you, my family & IRL friends, sunshine (I'm trying not to think about the bitter cold), my gas fireplace, and having the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox

Tennis ... sounds wonderful. I think I'd be more in the badmitton group but I'm sure you'll be fine. Glad to read your spirits and mood lifted - yes, we love you and you are wonderful in ways that a simple scale cannot measure. Good on you for taking care of you this weekend although the comedy club sounds fun. Outsource those to-do's as much as you need to; only do the things that 'only you' can do.
