Home Sweet Home! Had a wonderful trip; stayed my course sugar, dairy & wheat free; and enjoyed my time with my SILs, MIL (most of the time;), friend & her Mom. But, still struggled coming home to my empty house (hubby is away again this week). I've been reading about eating mindfully & much of it has been really helpful, especially while traveling, eating out & not able to measure, count or even know every calorie. While I don't agree with everything in the book nor plan to even try it all, much of it makes great sense to me & I've been feeling great not only about what I'm eating, but how much & how I feel after eating. Had the blip on the day of my return on Tues, even with the best of plans, but wasn't able to mindfully eat a real lunch, started snacking & it was a grazing day after that. While I'm thrilled it didn't turn into a sugar feast, I realize I'm just substituting healthier items, i.e. fruit, nuts, unsweetened dried fruits/coconut. So, before my next trip (to see my Mom on 2/15), I need to better prepare for that return day coming home on 2/20, & not let myself get behind & rushed, i.e. not enough praying, breathing, logging, posting & expressing, which I need more than ever on those return days.

But I'm back on track now & was pleasantly surprised that I didn't gain any weight. And, today I start 3 days of adding back wheat to my diet & will have steel cut oats this morning to do so -- the lab rat is back on the job! Will be publishing my unscientific results this week.

And, I've been missing my FS friends! Hope you are all doing well & to catch up later today or tomorrow. Sounds like I'm in for a blizzard, so should have plenty of catch up time over the next few days. So, I am starting my day in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

And will be praying, breathing, logging, posting & expressing (which I'm now realizing how far I'd gotten away from while I was traveling) again for this one day, meal, moment, bite & emotion at a time. As they say, there's no place like home... & I never feel more at home than here with my FSers! xoxox

Welcome home Angel! (She types... on her way back to the kitchen to stand post as you return to your lab). I'm going to start back on chapter one on the book - I realized I'd stopped paying attention. Glad you're back!

Happy your home safe and had a nice break. Can't wait to hear the chapter on wheat and it's effects!

So glad you enjoyed your trip without blowing your WOE! Coming home after a trip is hard when you've cleaned out the refrigerator ahead of time! And, I'm with you on substituting healthy items for a cookie orgy. You are doing great.

Welcome home and so glad that you had a wonderful visit with family and friends. What is the name of the book you are reading? Sounds like I might find it a good read :)
