Ruhu's Journal, 09 November 2012

Just heard "TGIF" on the news, but to me, I always have mixed feelings about the weekend. Part of it, is that I love my weekday life -- I work out or play tennis in the mornings, get my outside of the house work and/or housework done in the afternoon (including usually getting outside to walk my doggy :), and read or watch tv in the evenings. This all works well for me and my meals/food all just fall into place. I have to add that having my sons both away at college (although I miss them terribly) and my husband at work makes it all easier during the week too.

While we usually have fun things to do on the weekends, the lack of routine & stress I put on myself over what/how much I'll eat & drink makes me not look forward to or enjoy the weekends like I could. And, I feel so much more hungry on the weekends and my cravings increase dramatically. Wish I understood why that is. I've tried letting loose on the weekends food & drink wise, but that seems to backfire for me & I end of way overeating, usually on sugar. So, this weekend, I'm going to plan as much as I can what I'll eat & drink, and record all of it (regardless of my choices) in my food journal. Hoping that brings my TGIF back!

Good plan Ruth - we have to learn that weekends also need to be planned for - but don't beat yourself up too much when life gets in the way, now and again it is fine. One thing I found that I would do on weekends is "sympathy/join in" eating...as everyone else is indulging in rubbish you just do it too to fit in, but have found that if I don't I don't feel excluded....

I know its finding that balance between obsessing over every bite/sip & letting go completely and eating/drinking everything in sight! Balance... moderation... it sounds so easy on paper, but can be so hard to achieve!

Will be thinking about you and sending you positive thoughts that you ENOY your weekend. I agree we all deserve to 'relax ' a little but I feel recording it may help you avoid those Monday morning regrets. I am confident you'll discover it's not as bad as you're imagining.

I do understand about the weekend temptations - good thing we have OWW. I have just purchased some size 10 "goal jeans". Maybe you could get some too - try them on Saturday and Sunday to remind yourself.

Thanks for the encouragement, FullaBella! And, BuffyBear, I already own jeans that are a size too small! So, will try them on Sat & Sun morning. Knowing you are all supporting me, makes me eager to get this weekend started!
