DairyKing's Journal, 29 July 2014

Good Morning, FS Warriors! You wouldn't believe it; I wore gloves on my run this morning. I don't know what the temp was, maybe upper 50's, low 60's. Still wore shorts and a running Tee, but put on a pair of white jersey gloves and didn't take them off until my run was over - which is unusual for me. Usually, I have shed my gloves a mile or two into the run because my hands get hot and sweaty. Not this time. It just felt cold when I walked out the door. Ran a nice and easy 3.2 miles. I didn't want to overdo it, following on the heels of my long run yesterday. In hindsight, I should have taken a rest day. The run was OK, but my quads and hips were really tight. I know I should have a rest day following a long run, but I tried to play catch-up, since I didn't do my long run on the weekend as planned, and did it yesterday. Normally, Monday is a rest day, following the long run. I know better, and it's a good way to usher in an overuse injury.
A pretty uneventful evening; had one of the granddaughters over with the great grandkids. Homemade spaghetti is about the only way to get her over there, which is the bait we used. Of course, I ate two platefuls, and had to wash it down with a Pinot Noir. Well, it was good, doggonit! Shot at each other with foam bullets for about an hour. Played catch with the 3 year old, pushed him on the swing, answered a million questions - only about 10 of them were new, and most of them, he already knew the anwwers to. He's just practicing. All in all, a pretty good evening. Did some reading and went to lala land. Well, here's wishing all of you a wonamous day! Toodles!

Yeah, Pam, it's kind of wierd where all my weight goes. You couldn't even pinch the skin of my legs and thighs with calipers without hurting me; same goes for chest and arms. But the gut - therein lies the excess. Now why is that? I was just talking to someone about that.

It was non-July-like cool here last night but not cool enough for gloves. Don't worry about the spaghetti ~ foam bullets and answering questions probably burned that right off.

Age I'm afraid DK... Our bodies gather the fat round the middle... Trouble is, that's the dangerous 'visceral' fat area.

I like reading your journal right before I go to bed so I can sleep with a smile on my face! Thanks!

Hi DK, & great job on the running. Glad you didn't hurt yourself, & I wish I had your energy. It's weird how different climate factors besides temperature (like air pressure, humidity, etc.) can affect how our bodies feel. I know my osteo arthritis & fibromyalgia will suddenly kick up on warm days, just like on cold days, & am convinced that it has to do with these other factors. And it's worse whenever the weather changes in any way, then it calms down after my body adapts to the change. I hope I don't sound like a hypochondriac, but I'm just saying what I've personally experienced about how the weather affects my body. You're so blessed to have grands & great-grands, we're still waiting & hoping for that. Have a blessed, healthy & happy day today!

Well, Glammer, if I'd known how much fun the grandkids would be, I'd have skipped the pain of rearing children and gone straight to them.

I know, huh? I've heard this, & experienced it playing with & caring for other people's children. I'd just like some first-hand experience, LOL! But I'm leaving that up to the Lord, I know He knows what's best for me, & for our girls & their situations. Wishing you an AWESOME, healthy day!
