kari29's Journal, 23 July 2014

Well....today was a very important day for me on a very personal level. I visited my doctor today to begin TWO journeys. The first being a journey to alleviate the pain associated with an incisional hernia I have had for about 5 yrs now. My doctor has now referred me to a surgical group who will (on Friday morning) begin THEIR assessment of the situation. There is SOME level of skepticism there as far as whether they can do anything long-term since I have had 3 surgeries in my abdominal region over the course of my life. Each surgery further weakens the abdominal wall, making it MORE likely a hernia will develop. So, I guess we'll just have to see what the surgeon says on Friday.

The SECOND journey I began today was one that has me nervous and excited...and scared outta my wits. I am a 37 year old woman who has never been pregnant...and I want to be a mom....with every fiber of my being. Today I began that journey....my first labs were taken today to check my hormone levels and fertility markers. Monday I will have a Women's Wellness check "down there" LOL and will also be checked for PCOS (which is a HUGE suspicion for my doctor at this point).

On the OTHER side of things: my doctor gave me a HUGE kudos for my new lifestyle and subsequent weight loss. She is VERY supportive of this WoE and thinks that I may have saved myself from T2 Diabetes!! YAY!! We'll see what the labs have to say :)

My daughter has PCOS and is finally pregnant and due Nov 1 after about 6 years of trying. Her doctors were very relaxed with their treatments as she was so young so it took longer.
