Annabelle3117's Journal, 23 April 2014

Good Morning! Half way to the weekend... I think I can, I think I can. Thanks for the comments yesterday, I will look into a personal safety device to carry around with me. My husband went to the extreme and said I should get my permit to carry a concealed firearm. Well that's a little overboard lol. It's not like I'm hiking through the projects, this is rural Ohio. My only concern, besides a coyote that might think my dog looks tasty, would be a wandering psycho, or a desperate addict. I have seen neither thus far. I guess the one thing I have going for me is that I can slowly run for about 1.5 miles. The coyote would get me for sure, but I've never seen an athletic addict lol.

Anywho, sore after yesterday. I couldn't find my DVD, which frustrated me, but I did some moves, then jumped on the trampoline with my little man to get some cardio in. Doing something is better than doing nothing, am I right or am I right? I don't know what I'm going to do today, I'm contemplating going for a swim. What the what?! Yup, a swim. I haven't swam in a bazillion years it seems. I have to see if my swimming suit will even stay up on me any more, or try on my old one and see if that fits now. The only downside to this Body media armband is that it can't go in the pool with me, so I'm going to have to guesstimate calorie burn for that. My knee is a bit sore today, that's probably from the jump rope yesterday. Should have known better lol, even more reason to swim.

All things food have been going beautifully, despite the daily stress load. Yesterday it seemed like I was insatiably hungry, I think that was because I had such a large calorie deficit the day before. After this week I will be able to see what my average calorie burns are with me being active daily, and perhaps I will up my intake. Too large of a deficit can do more harm than good.

Like everyone else, the no scale challenge makes me want to step on the scale. I WONT. :-) As the leader of this challenge I have to set a good example... right? lol Almost one week down, five and a half to go lol.

So I'm making spaghetti for dinner tonight "dun dun dun dunnnn" and I picked up a pack of shirataki spaghetti noodles from the produce section that Peppermill was talking about a long while back. Fifteen calories per serving and only like four grams of carbs. I'm excited to give them a try. I'll let you know how they turn out. They're pretty pricey though, so the rest of the family gets carbolicious regular pasta lol. I've tried the spaghetti squash, but I'm not a fan of squash. Not at all, so hopefully this will be a better alternative.

Well I suppose I better get on with it then, hang up my shingle and such lol. Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm impressed on how you are increasing your activity, it is awesome! jumping (don't you love trampoline? it makes me feel like a kid again) and running, and now swimming... Wow! I wish I could be that active! well not that I can't, just that the lazy me struggles a bit. How is it going so far with the challenge? I was very tempted to join but due to my May goal, I really need to have a close look at those numbers these weeks. Good to know that you are strong and giving a good example to the people who joined you :)

LOL - I've considered the same *handgun* as I wear one all day in my shop anyway but I don't know if that's going overboard too. I have walked thru the projects down in New Orleans armed with nothing but sarcasm so I should be safe ... if nothing else it will make me pedal faster :-) Glad to see you worked in Shingle ~~ my day is complete :-)

Sadly, I'm not exercising because of injury to ribs and found out it might take up to 8 weeks to heal. I was advised to not even consider doing kettle or strength until I'm pain free for a week or two. Stinks. I miss my workouts. But will walk. Surprisingly, I am not tempted to get on the scale. Probably fearful of what it will say. ATF... quit crappy food Sunday night and back on track as of Monday. And don't miss the carbs/sugar. Carbs. When craving to the point I will kill for them, I'll eat, but not do it for days. Perhaps a cookie or two to take the edge off.

Yes, please let us know how the noodles turn out. Would be good to have another alternative. I'm impressed you're even considering the pool - how fun!! Way to go!

Good luck with your swim! I love swimming for exercise. Once your face (and ears) are in the water, there's not many distractions and I can get some good thinking done! It's also nice to emerge from a workout fresh and clean and not all sweaty and gross. Hope at least one of your suits will fit and you can have an enjoyable time!

Thanks guys!! I used to swim weekly for exercise but stopped when the winter weather hit because my skin was getting nasty dry. Unfortunately, my swimsuit from last year wont fit at all. No wonder, its a 22! What a difference a year can make. My super old suit fits good, a little big, it's a 16/18 but the problem is that it's so revealing. It's the kind of suit that was made for lying on the beach, not lap swimming as hard as you can. I'm afraid the girls would get loose, if ya know what I mean lol. I'm going to skip the pool today and bike instead. Maybe this weekend I will go out swimming suit shopping. :-) Something I'll be looking forward to, for the first time ever.

You're right doing something is better than nothing, so it's great that you found something to keep you active. Too bad you can't do the pool, but it's for a good reason, you're too small for your swimsuit. That's a good problem to have! You'll have to let us know on the noodles. I like spaghetti squash, but my family doesn't, so I don't make it. I need to be better about making myself some healthier options and giving them the carb-y noodles, I just hate making 2 different things, but I guess if it's healthy, it can be lunch tomorrow. :)

Haha! I started swimming mid-Nov when the winter weather hit. Yes, it was a dry dry year for my poor skin! So exciting you get to buy a new swimsuit for a new sexy you!

Woo shirataki noodles! My suggestions: Rinse them VERY well in a colander first (the liquid they come in has an interesting smell), then "dry fry" them on the stove by spraying a frying pan with non-stick spray and heating the noodles all the way through, until they're bone-dry. Then add sauce/toppings. It's the closest thing to pasta I've been able to find. Let us know how it goes! :)

PepperMill's instructions on the shirataki noodles are EXACTLY right! I'll add that I also cut mine up a little before the "fry" because the noodles seem to be LOOOOONG & it's easier to do before pasta sauce enters the picture. I honestly can't taste a difference!

My husband did the same thing with insisting I take a gun with me when I run especially since I was running late at night often. So, I bought a little Ruger 9 mil. It's cute, small and portable. And, every time I run I end up failing to take it with me anyway. It's probably for the best though. Even with one of those body holsters I bounce around so much when I run one of my boobs is likely to pull the trigger and blow off the opposing boob.

I took myself off the Trust Fall challenge, because I just went almost 4 weeks with no change on the scale, and I finally saw progress on Sunday..and I need to keep seeing it for now. That doesnt mean I am MIA :)

Awe I missed the challenge start!! That's what my procrastinating gets me. I can follow the challenge in spirit and just avoid the scale for a while right? lol Good for you for finding fun ways to workout. I'd rather have your too small a suit problem though. Last night I got in the hot tub in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt because my tankini looked like a bad impersonation of pacman. You're my hero :)

So hard not to step on the scale the last couple of days. I don't feel heavier and have been staying on plan (including sodium) but my wedding band felt a little tight. Holding water?

Where can the shirataki noodles be found? I've never heard of them and always open for ideas and suggestions. Love trying new things.

Kathy, I found them in the refrigerated produce section at Wal-Mart. They were near the bolthouse dressings, amongst the eggroll wrappers and tofu. I will let everyone know what I think of them once I've tried them. Thank you very much DFW, but I don't know if I should be hero status just yet. Wait until I save some kittens from a house fire or something lol. And for the record, if I had as cute of a baby belly as you I would run around with it hanging out all the damn time... fo sho lol! LMAO @ 2MC, if I carried a gun around you all would see me on an episode of world's dumbest. Thanks for the pasta tips guys!
