No, that is not a typo!!! I actually rode my bike (tandem ride along seat with Drew on it) 25 miles today! We missed the worst of the rainstorm by having a late lunch at a pub (when is beer ever a good idea before exercise!?!??!??) and though at one point I got pretty soaked, we kept going.
This morning we took the whole family to the farmers market and I went crazy on veggies. Then we got on the bikes around 11, and didn't get home until 5! We rode all the way from our home near Happy Valley to downtown Portland, let the kids play at the Oregon Museum of Science & Industy, then lunch, then back. The Springwater Corridor Trail in Portland is amazing--like a freeway for bikes: few stops, lots of green, perfect pavement, nice and flat.
Except the end. Oh, what horror. We live on a HUGE hill and dragging my sorry butt up it is NOT my idea of a good time. I can't even ride my bike fast enough to pedal up it. It is a struggle, but there is a good reason for it, right? I am getting stronger every day.
And slimmer. I can't even imagine how much easier it will be to bike without 50-60 extra pounds on me, and not feeling my smooshy stomach each time I pedal. Yuck.
I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend. I am staying positive today. (-: except that hill. I will never love that.

Sounds like a great day! Good exercise and good to get the fresh local veggies. Way to go! As with all the trials in life, it is hard to "love" them even though they are what shape us into stronger, better versions of us. :) It will be such a good feeling when you suddenly realize that hill is no longer difficult to climb. Your journal just inspired me to go out and get more active!

WOW WOW - that is a major accomplishment to ride 25 miles! Great job! I have not yet done 25 miles in one ride yet - but we are working on it!
