Walked 3.1 miles this morning in the cloudy, warm air. Dogs along for 2.4 because it was actually the most comfortable it has been in a few days, courtesy of TS Debby in the vicinity.
I felt a major, MAJOR panic today, as the results of my bloodwork came in. I will not post them, at least not right now, but suffice it to say that half the numbers were outstanding and the other half were dreadful. The clinic called to set up a follow-up appointment next week to "discuss options" (BIG groan...), so perhaps I'll know more then.
This was such a shocker initially, esp. since a major reason for losing the weight was so I could maintain excellent blood chemistry and avoid all the typical ills of poor chemistry, including drugs and repeated doctor visits. I was also completely convinced low-carb is the way to go, so if it doesn't get proven in the bloodwork, where does that leave me?????
Well, by tonight, I'm somewhat calmer and much more encouraged by information I'm finding in the Phinney & Volek books. They write about certain, specific TRANSIENT anomolies in one's bloodwork after one loses 30+ pounds.....that's ME!!!! I'm not sure of all the details in the cited research article that was published awhile back, but I've got the information to take with me to the appointment.
If what I'm seeing (and what the doctor is seeing) are merely the "odd" effects from losing 30+ pounds and those effects do, indeed, resolve themselves naturally after a few months of Maintenance, then I will be one happy camper, because, as I said, half of my "numbers" are outstanding and I'm still convinced low-carb is the way to go.

My yearly physical & bloodwork is tomorrow morning, so I'm hoping for good results also. Sorry to hear your results are half/half, but sounds like you have done your research and are armed for your next appointment. Wish you well, keep us posted.

Sorry I missed this last night - I was a little worried that Debbie and you might not be getting along. BTW - Thanks for the reminder. I need to do more reading on bloodwork myself. For example - on LDL: I'm not up on the science but I know there is a different series of cholesterol tests. Guess I'd better be more prepared before my next Dr.'s Appt. Best of luck on yours!

Re-testing in a period of time is probably a good idea before starting any pills! 1/2 good & 1/2 not so good is way better than all bad...right?! Right! Your body has seen some major changes since your last visit, so it only stands to reason that it will take a bit to re-establish a new norm when you reach a maintenance level, which is just around the corner. You must be seeing blue everywhere you look you are so close to hitting your goal! Words can hardly express how happy I am for you, how proud I am of you & how inspired I am by you & your success.
