Hm, I really like losing more than a pound in one day. And yesterday I found some lovely research on the body and "starvation mode". You know, that thing people always use to scare dieters into getting over 1200 calories a day. Turns out, your body can't get into starvation mode if you're above 5% body fat! And even when you are that lean you have to be creating a massive caloric deficit over a large span of time (about 3000 calories deficit a day for more than a week) for the body to actually hit starvation mode. So eating a low calorie diet, about 900 calories in my case, is actually not harmful to my body or its ability to burn fat at all. Turns out that what most people assume is "starvation mode" is just the body naturally regulating fat burning. The more fat you have the faster it burns, as you decrease the amount of fat you have it burns slower and slower. That is a GOOD thing. It may suck getting those last few pounds off but it means your body is capable of functioning and regulating itself properly. So I'm going to continue eating my super low calorie diet until I'm at the weight I want because I'm just not hungry. My body realizes I've gained and it's trying to return to normal by pretty much stopping my hunger reflex. I will not force myself to eat when my body is telling me not to.

Oh my gosh! THANK YOU for writing this in your journal. I have struggled with the same SH*T lately. My weight loss stalled and people told me to UP my calories, etc. etc. I have PLENTY of fat to burn as long as I do not burn muscle tissue for energy. I also eat lots of protein and lose appetite since protein satiates us longer - feel like I am forcing myself to eat just to get to 1200 calories a day!
