ConniebytheSea's Journal, 23 June 2012

Great WORKOUT week!!! I forgot to mention in my recent journal posts, that my son and I have been getting in some great workouts this week! We've been in the gym every day since we got back from Ohio. We try to chose a different cardio machine each day to mix things up, and on Wed we did a machine that was kind of like an eliptical but I think it was more of a ski machine, the foot slides seemed to go more forward and back than up and down motion. We stuck with it but we didn't like it very much! It said we were buring 700 some odd calories per hour on it so I liked it for that reason! We only did it for 10 mins and then we moved to the treadmills. Then on Thurs we did the stair climbers for 15 mins before hitting the treadmills. Yesterday we did the stationary bikes and then the treadmills. On Wed we also did shoulders & back for our weight lifting, and yesterday we did legs! Yesterday was our best workout yet! I'm bringing index cards to the gym and tracking what we lift so we can improve. We have 3 cards one for legs, one for back and shoulders, one for arms and chest. We are starting to have fun with it now that we kind of have an idea of what we are doing! :) Only we keep saying to each other that we need to do abs each day when we return home from the gym and we keep "forgetting". Guess there's always room for improvement. ;)
I'm pleased with our efforts this week.
I'm going to meet up with some ladies that I haven't seen since January. I've lost about 15lbs since I last saw them, so I'm curious to see if anyone will notice. We are having a lunch together and everyone is bringing a dish. I'm bringing a nice healthy greek salad! :)
Enjoy your Saturday my FS pals!!!

Connie .... It does sound like you are getting into it. I have a tendency to do too much of the same thing at the gym. It's good to change it up a bit. The gym can be a friendly place. I have to careful not to eat up too much time chatting. So, given the number on your son's jersey .... Does he play offensive center ..... And defensive linebacker? I loved playing football in high school. I wasn't especially good at it, but I enjoyed the practices and the games. I wrestled & did some track .... I didn't find them as interesting. My youngest daughter is the athlete in the family. She run track & cross-country in high school & college. She still does run an occassional half marathon. She is my 115 pound mass of muscle. I love sports in general ..... And I still cherish her days back in high school when I would be cheering her on during races. I love pictures .... Thanks for sharing!

First - I owe you a great big fat hairy apology. I did not realize that you were already a veteran gym member. Since we are new buddies I thought that you were considering a gym membership for the FIRST time. My mistake. Your son is SO CUTE! Love Love Love the pictures. GO BLAZERS! Woot! Woot! He has that cool for hot weather haircut. I bet you are a fun fun fun sports mom - huh! My son coaches freshman football so I really relate. From 2002-2005 he was a team captain -- wide out (receiver who caught TD passes) on offense & a free safety on defense. His job was to stop the touch down -- lots of vital tackles. Your son is a dollbaby! He is NOT obese. he is a cutie -pa-tootie! Thank you for posting the pictures. They made my day & brought back memories!

Hi Guys! Glen, yes he did play center last year, and both offense and defensive line positions depending on what they needed. I think he said he wants to play safety this year so he's working on his running skills so he can play that position. :) He really likes football and I think he will like wrestling too, when he gets into high school and they offer it. My son in law (whom my son really looks up to) played football and wrestling so I think he's wanting to follow in his brother in law's footsteps. We'll see what the future holds. ;-) Wiener - No need for apologies! I AM new to the co-ed gym that we just joined a few weeks ago. I've had a gym membership at the all womens gym for about 10 years, and then prior to that a co-ed membership at a gym that has long since closed down. So I guess that could label me a veteran. LOL! There are alot of new and different machines at this co-ed gym though, and that makes me feel like a newbie! But we're learning what's what and where things are. Thanks for the nice words about my son. I don't think he's even remotely "obese" like I would be labeled. He taller than me and weighs 20lbs less than me, how can that be obese???? I don't think the trainer girl even considered his height, bone structure or anything, just looked up a 12 year old average and went with that. There's a lot of "little guys" in my son's class/grade that are just little boys still, and haven't hit puberty yet. My son wears a size 10 1/2 shoe and he's already in his "teenager body". I guess that's why I was agitated at that trainer because we joined the gym so he could get in "better shape" or as he would say "get ripped"! LOL! We still have our second meeting with her on Monday. She's supposed to go over our workout and give us tips, but I'm wondering if I even want to "open that door" for her to say anything else that might discourage my son rather than encourage him. Ya know? Well you guys are in trouble now that I know how to upload pictures!!! I love pictures too! ;-)

I also like the palm leaves in the background. See the TINY picture on my profile page. We played ball down in the Carolinas & Northern Florida so those bring back memories. Well - I didn;t. But as a sports mom - I feel as if i did. You tell your son I said he WILL "get ripped." He-he-he-he-he! His coaches will work him hard as time goes on. Left a note for you over on my journal about how "transparent" our journal entries are! Love ya!

I could't read all of your journal because the pictures are so big, they made the words spread out to the sides underneath all the ads! But from what I could see, you have been exercising up a storm. Go! Go! Go! Your son looks very athletic. That trainer should have her head examined. How cool that you get to show off your weight loss to your friends. That's definitely one of the best perks of weight loss!
