Going into work yesterday and the hiway was shut down by the cops. And there was a TV news truck there, always a bad sign. Found out later that a woman from the village died in a head on collision. I didn't know her but many of my friends did and it was a sad evening. I went over to a friends for a barbeque and we spent most of the evening talking about it and the guy who hit her. He fled the scene and was arrested. A bad decision, he has a wife and two small kids. In a split second so many lives were changed.
Another friend that is a nurse was one of the first people on the scene, the second time in less than a week she had to assist in a fatal vehicle accident. A few days ago on the same hiway, a pick up truck cut off a semi, the semi driver slammed on his brakes, jack knifed his truck and was ejected through the window. She performed CPR on him until the ambulance arrived, but he died on the scene. She is pretty shaken up by it all, having one happen is bad enough but twice.....she feels like death is following her.

How awful! My heart goes out to your nurse friend as well. She is in good hands with you as her friend. I would be nervous to drive on that highway. I wonder if they will consider widening it now or putting in some kind of divider. Stay safe and my sympathies to all who were affected by these tragedies.

Oh, How aweful for your friend. We are so lucky to have people like her that are willing to help people who are injured. Even though it is hard on her now, I imagine she feels better by doing everything she could rather than just driving by. She could have done that too...

The sad thing is both accidents were due to stupidity. This road is flat, straight and wide. And the stupid person who caused the accident survived in both cases. I try not to think of this when I'm driving as it is the same road I use to go into the city. Luckily my friend has a good boss and they gave her a few days off to let her deal with this.

Not ever good to hear of fatalities but getting close to people who were on the scene or involved in some way.... really sheds light on how an accident effects so many people.... not just the families of the victims. I am glad you were there for her to talk to. Sorry it all happened, too. ((BIG HUGS!!))
